It's so interesting that you chose this (Blood, Sweat, and Tears) as your first Korean BTS MV to watch - the one that has German in it! And the quotation voiced by RM is from a book (Demian) written by Herman Hesse, a German!! 🤭 The universe has led you well. 💜

The quote in German that you read aloud is from Nietzsche - his philosophy inspired Hesse's, "Demian," much as Hesse's work later inspired BTS. Also, the organ piece that Yoongi was playing was by Dieterich Buxtehude - the same piece that forms a small motif in the book. The attention to detail in the music video is immaculate.

And the fact that they only cover half the references ie. mostly the Korean culture related ones but there are soooo many other references relating to comments made to/about them as well, for example all the clothing choices (Suga’s Snow White shirt, V’s tie and glasses, Jungkook’s MVP jersey, etc).
@thaneyberenice12319 ай бұрын
Blood, Sweat and Tears references "Demian" by Hermann Hesse (as does the whole Wings album). The quote RM reads is from that book. It's all about temptation and growing up. There are tons of Easter eggs in that video. (Ich könnte einen Roman darüber schreiben, aber das lasse ich mal lieber 😅) The German quote on the wall you read is by Nietzsche. The video for Idol is so over the top, because they purposely did everything they got (unjustified) criticism for before, like usage of CGI, being not Korean enough and so on and turned it up to 1000% 😅 Also... Your frequent mention of Europop.. I didn't even consider that, but now I can hear it as well. Eurodance especially was my youth jam 💃🏻

Hi, Pierre! The statue in the first MV is Michaelangelo's "Pieta," of the Virgin Mary holding the dead body of her Son Jesus. His face is not depicted in the MV I believe out of respect, but I also love your interpretation of it not being carved yet. The member shown with this statue also has a mother-related song on this album, and a related storyline angle. It all ties together!

1:19 the slingshot is a good prop for symbolic purposes of the whole story since BST is more about temptation and revolves around growth, accepting good and evil of oneself (and it's inspired from a book called Demian by Hermann Hesse) 6 members were paired as mentor and student, the older members were the mentors (SUGA, RM and j-hope) while the younger members were the students (Jimin, V and JK) and Jin was the main character, Sinclair... and based on my own understanding, Jimin and JK were represented as Jin or Sinclair's younger self and V was like Demian, which is also one of Sinclair's mentors, but it was kinda also revealed that Demian was Sinclair himself.. Sinclair grew up in a religious family and Demian is like his classmate and always question things outside of the religious teachings, his questions always made Sinclair think and accepts that you can't be 100% good or 100% bad.. that's why I think V is Demian, cause he made Jin see both good and evil in the form of the statue that was also represented as Abraxas, the god of both good and evil 3:37 all green in this music video is like the presentation of the "temptation" 4:16 if you notice the 2 statues behind them were black and white 4:23 the statue is called "Pieta" by Michaelangelo, it's the Virgin Mary holding Jesus after the Crucifixion. it's symbolizes mother which connects to jhope's solo song in this album, and in the book 7:20 so this is my theory cause ARMY always have theory lol.. jhope represents the mentor that teaches Sinclair about all goods, I think it was a woman mentor, she doesn't teach anything that would taint Sinclair's purity so this timestamp, he released the arrow and "shot" V 8:57 so this scene is about a story from the Greek mythology about Icarus who flew too close to the sun. but JK is representing the fall of Icarus. and behind him is a painting of "The Lament for Icarus" actually, when V jumped from the balcony, in front of him was also another painting about Icarus called "Landscape with The Fall of Icarus" 10:09 SUGA represents the mentor who teaches Sinclair organ.. the one he's playing was a piece he promised to play to Sinclair 11:05 Jin kissing the statue is about him accepting the good and evil. 11:50 YES!! that's why everything went chaos after Jin kissed the statue because he accepted the chaos within himself 12:08 AND Demian told Sinclair "The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born must first destroy a world. The bird flies to God. That God's name is Abraxas." Jin cracking is the bird fighting out of the egg. and that's Blood Sweat and Tears 😅 but there's a lot more symbolism within a lot of the props they use. I was just commenting mostly of the things that caught your attention Idol also needs its own explanation but it's more on the cultural side so I recommend watching an explanation video by a Korean from DKDKTV channel but I'm just gonna comment about the context of some things that I know basically, the entire music video of Idol is their response to hate comments, like "BTS only uses green screen and CGI" so they made this video and made it 10x extra green screen and CGI which is so funny😂 13:43 this one. OK so everytime RM goes live before, he likes to use and play with filters (I think it's cute) but one comment caught his attention one time and it said to not use filter, how it doesn't suit him and all that.. so he said "ok I won't" personally, I like him using filters, it's just him being goofy and it also help breaks this thought from people that he's just only a serious person. he also addressed that people thought that he's a serious person in one of his recent lives, he said he's also a fun person 15:16 I'm not too sure about V's outfit if he got a comment about it, but he did got a comment like RM about the glasses he was wearing.. how it also didn't suit him (bro's so good looking, I don't think he wore anything that doesn't suit him) 15:38 so around the time they released this song, they were blowing up in the west and then they got comments about how they got "Westernized" and forgot about their kpop culture. lol so they got dressed in Hanbok.. it was even more epic when they performed it live in Korean award shows😂 16:51 EXACTLY.. they also use it here in particular because people keep saying they only use autotune lol but BTS using autotune always have its purpose and it's their artistic choice, not because they can't sing 18:49 i heard that traditionally, the fan Jimin was holding was only used by female. Jimin have been a subject to criticism that's he's too feminine because of his androgynous beauty, he had a hard time accepting and showing that side of him but him holding that fan is him accepting and loving himself, and we're so happy and proud of him overall, IDOL is a song about the celebration of loving oneself. it's a part of the trilogy album that takes you to a journey of loving yourself.. and those albums helped a lot of ARMYs

15:11 That's because they've packed the MV with things they've been criticised for like specific clothing items, being too pale (Suga's Snow White shirt), playing with filters during live streams, "Jin has ugly knees" = trousers highlighting his knees, etc., etc. In V's case right here it's his two-toned hair, the white glasses and the shirt with hearts. You should check out the explanations for this one by DKDKTV *and* by XCeleste. The first concentrates on the lyrics and all the cultural references, the latter on the grouprelated references like clothing etc. There's so so much to this MV. 😅 You really dove in at the deep end with BS&T and Idol in the same reaction - those are probably two of their most complex MVs ever (*). 😅 BS&T is centered around the german novel Demian by Herman Hesse, a litterary classic about growing up and facing temptation, choices and consequences. *Everything* in the MV has a meaning; every single piece of art, the classical piece Suga was playing, the quote from the book by RM, theí german quote you read out loud, the huge statue of the greek god Abraxus, literally EVERYTHING. (The statue behind J-Hope that you mentioned is Michelangelo's famous sculpture 'Pieta' which depicts Virgin Mary with the dead body of her son Jesus after his crucifixion before he was placed in his tomb. However in the MV, as you rightly pointed out, his head hasn't been finished; he hasn't finished his development yet.) This is one of the MVs related to their extremely complex and absolutely brilliant ongoing storyline. (*) Spring Day is on a whooole other level though. For that one the explanation video by Italian ARMY "What You Still Don't Know About Spring Day" is an *absolute must.* There's a reason why this song is on its seventh year of non-stop charting in South Korea. (Trigger warning for the highly emotional explanation video though! 😢) 💜

I can't wait for you to see more rapline stuff there are some really fun moments ahead and I have a feeling you would really like the rapline stuff. Idol live is SUCH a party song! when i first heard it I thought it was ok, but when I saw it in concert i felt like i was going to have a heart attack the energy in the stadium was wild! Idol live is just a whole different beast and for concerts they have done some very cool remixes too that I really wish we could have somewhere to stream. Mic Drop also has a super hyped up angry energy live that is so epic. tbh sometimes people react to a single song from a concert live and I understand why as reactors, but nothing beats the experience of watching the full concert through to see how they carry the energy through the whole show it is just so great. I remember you said you didn't care for high voices so reacting to blood sweat and tears early on was interesting! but it is such a high quality, captivating, acid trip of a video i am not surprised you enjoyed it! it's one of my very favorite bts songs...but there are so many I love, I am never bored with them there is such a big variety of content and it has been so much fun being army.

17:31 rabbit in the moon: Instead of a man in the moon, Koreans see a rabbit in the moon. So this image is very Korean.

Hi! I loved your reaction. Since other ARMYs already explained Blood, Sweat & Tears, I would like to tell you about IDOL. The song was released when BTS faced criticism for: "excessive use of green screen" and "singing only in English", which are both lies (there are behind-the-scenes videos where you can see the recordings if you are interested in that aspect like BS&T). So, they said: I Love Myself and decided to use a lot of green screen (because they can), use traditional Korean clothes as well as traditional instruments, they also made reference to various Korean dances such as Buchaechum (using a fan) and Pungmul (cartwheels). In addition to the occasional reference to things that the members were criticized for and which they now proudly embrace. (Sorry for my English, it is not my first language.)

Glad that you caught the German wordings on the wall. With BTS, thier songs are all about the Lyrics, which has very deep meaning and the music and instrumentation is top notch. You also caught the snare drums for BTS's Idol song. Just for you information, BTS creatively, showcased their Korean Cultural background with this song by incorporating traditional instruments, the drum was a Janggu, which was a Traditonal Korean drum, they had the Gakgung which is a Korean Horn, with the Kkeaenggwai, a Brass Gong. You may want to watch the BTS Idol Performance for the Jimmy Fallon Show 2020, in the Ancient Gyeongbokgung Palace wearing their Traditonal garments called the Hanbok.

If you wanna take suggestions: ON Kinect Manifesto and Black Swan are a MUST! I can wait till you get to listen to some of their B-sides, but take your time on the ride 😊💜

"Idol" and "Blood sweet and Tears" are masterpieces of complexity...there are "explanation" videos because there are a lot of messages to discover...Mic Drop is an essential "Banger"!! You can start your journey with their first albums which will surprise you..."No More Dream...NO..etc. there are so many superb ones!! Don't hesitate to ask questions there will always be one for answer you!! I really like your reactions because they are marked with sincerity and we are starting to feel the desire to know the boys better....they are currently in military service but ARMYs from all over the world are preparing their return!!. Apobangpo ! I am a senior ARMY (67) and I could no longer live without the BTS...like millions of people who have overcome challenges thanks to them. MERCI 💜 💜 💜 💜

Great hits, the 3 songs. So different each one. It is true they are like a box of chocolates. You never know what you are going to get. Lots of references to Damian (The book by Hermann Hesse) in blood, sweat and tears.
@NeonReactionsPierre9 ай бұрын
Being a german we had to read that in school... but that was like 40 years ago.... I do have a big bookshelf behind me but haven't touched Hesse in many years..... maybe I should read that again...

@@NeonReactionsPierre indeed Hesse wrote some great stuff for young people. Fun fact: my mother owned a school (highschool) and it was called Hermann Hesse and the logo was a wolf, hahha. Great memories

" Idol " hecho así , a propósito , dedicado a los que odian ! 😎

Idol really is them coming back at their hater who said they had become too Westernised and is part of the Lover Yourself albums. Hence there are so many Korean reference's both in sound, drums, dance, imagery, even the sun setting, references to Korean myths etc etc. They are bascially saying we are whatever you want to call us we don't care be it Idol or artist, there are many different 'sides' of us and you are not going to make us stop loving ourselves. Also they used a lot of CGI as they don't normal use much CGI in their mv's but they did it just to throw it into the faces of their haters.

You've said :"we' here, in Europe'....'....what ? Despite being so different in believes, religions, etc......WE'VE BEEN GROWN UP TO BE FREE CONCERNING OUR RIGHTS & THOUGHTS ! Yes ! I love Europe and its multiple diversity as ....DIVERSITY AND THE RESPECT OF THE DIVERSITY GIVES OUR... "'POWER IN DIVERSITY"! This is what BTS had been ASKING FOR MORE THEN 10 YEARS AGO !

Love your reactions! Towards the end, I just realized, don't know if it's just a coincidence, but these videos set you up pretty nicely to react to some of their end of year performances for each of these songs which are all AMAZING, if you thought their MVs were good, I can't wait for you to see their live performances because most people will say, and I agree, that they outdo themselves when they do it live

I am loving your reactions! And I am so glad you are enjoying BTS! And the second MV is a bit strange lol. Idol is sort of a clap back to their haters who said they use a lot of green screen (which they didn’t). They were like, ok, you want green screen? We’ll give you green screen. 🤣 They also filled it with cultural references because people were saying they were becoming too westernized. The Rabbit in the Moon is a Korean folklore. 🙂
