This story reminded me of a hunting camp event from several decades ago. My grandfather and a number of the men in the family had gone over to Rabun County, Georgia to hunt deer. Grandpa, like Gordon, had gone for his morning constitutional except there was no outhouse. One of the cousins said he’d never laughed so hard as when he saw Grandpa running back into the camp holding up his trousers and yelling, “Bear, bear!” The bear was trying hard to catch him but Grandpa set a new 50 yd dash for a 60 year old while holding up his trousers with both hands.

As a kid one of my biggest fears involved the outhouses at summer camp in Tesxas...the camp had copperheads and water moccasins all over it, and my fear as a kid was going into one of the privies, dropping trow, taking a seat, and getting both fangs from a snake right in the tuchus. Since the standard practice was for someone else to suck out the poison at the location of the bite...well...I was pretty sure I would be a goner!!

Have been in the mountains all my life, in the woods on high country not in a town or city most of us have learned at an early to pay attention to our surroundings, its a lot safer like that. And its always good to be armed when in deep woods or anywhere you are. Be safe , and the most important thing is know your gun , know how to use it , handle it. And always practice gun safety. Never fire at something unless you know what it is.

Hard telling what the bear would have done to Gordon. An animals aggression is unpredictable. Growing up we were told never to turn our back on our domesticated bulls for that exact reason. As in all situations, it’s better to have a gun and not need it than to need it and not have it.

I enjoy watching your channel and tell others to do so often, including at work on busy construction site where there a lot of outdoors enthusiasts, hunters and dog walkers. It really gets them rethinking their attitude toward venturing into the woods unarmed. Close to town here on the Mission - Maple Ridge border we have had a fatal bear attack a couple of years back. I appreciate your pointing out the 'scientific' climate change/global warming bs vs North West Passage ice fact. Hopefully you are careful so the powers don't censor you Atticus. I hope you keep making these excellent videos. Too bad we couldn't PM each other anymore. YT sure was a well baited On LINE hook on their world wide WEB/International NET. FTNWO! ;).

I think it's absurd that taking out a dangerous human killer/nusance polar bear should take out a 1st nation hunting tags. They only get 12 & need to be able to defend themselves without losing a tag.

I wouldn't go on the woods and where there's bears without a 45 magnum. I'd wrap to my side and one to my chest and have enough ammo. In the event I encounter a mean I love camping. And hiking, but as a human being where vulnerable to wall animals such as Bears, black Bears, grizzly Bears and they don't play and people should be more cautioned. Have more caution I should say winteron bear country. Cause you never know

No one likes what an animal will do at any given time. I'f i were out on a deep woods adventure like these guys were my 10mm would be on my person somewhere. An animal will show up when its least expected. Bear, deer, moose , turkey, Elk, squirrel any thing can be anywhere anytime 😮

I met two bears in the woods yesterday. A mama with her cub. I clapped my hands and shouted, and they scurried away unhurt. Ideally, I should have had a backpack rocket launch system to annihilate the entire forest to save my 5 wives and each of their sextuplet newborns.

I love watching the Grizzlies of Katmai National Park. If you watch them enough you start to notice they all have different personalities and some are more aggressive than others. Yet I almost forget that a man was eaten alive and his girlfriend killed and cached for later at said park 20 some years ago. These story’s give me the same feeling and serve as a reminder as to what can happen in bear country

Narmata is right across the lake from my home town Summerland. Quick bear story, I walked to work every day, about a 2-3 miles, left home right around 4:30 am every morning. It was late fall, so the walk was always in the dark. It was apple picking time, and I had to pass by alot of orchards. Walking along a fairly dark street, which passed between to apple orchards, I started hearing an odd sound. I stopped to listen, then realized I was hearing a grunting noise, basically figured it was a bear eating the apples on the ground. and giving a fair warning to me Not to far away, but far enough that I wasnt to concerned but started talking to the bear, letting it know I was there and that I was just passing through. Never saw the bear, but after that happened, always made sure I made enough noise when passing the same area each day to warn any other orchard visitor that I was there, lol.

Hi, hope everyone is well, i like listening to these stories of bear attacks especially the ones in my Country of Canada. The story @6:17 takes place in the Okanagan, British Columbia, Canada however I was stupified to hear you mention a few abandoned orchards there in Idaho @10:36 that big boars claim their own. Where is the correct place?

Answers the age-old question: does a bear shit in the woods? --- just when some old geezer beats it to the outhouse. Ipso facto I strongly suspect its attack was territorial....

The bears in Ontario seem to be more of a problem since the provincial Government, in Toronto (no danger of bears there) decided to stop bear hunting a number of years ago.

I think if Sam didn’t have so many crops bears wouldn’t become attracted to it. I thought when Sam’s defensive act towards the bear made it afraid. I think if there aren’t a lot of crops the bear would just leave the farm alone. I would keep my food more inside so it doesn’t attract any bears.

Yes I do think humanity has a responsibility to keep these animals from becoming extinct. Much more should be done to preserve their habitat and being that it is unlikely to happen as new oil drilling leases are given. There are plenty of beached whale's and dolphins from N.A.T.A. war games the least they could do is not throw and waste the fish but feed what is possible to these bears to save them, they should not have to become extinct because humans don't care or because they are in the way of progress.

Outhouse experience. If up to me , the door would stay open if in an isolated area. I would have bear spray and some other kind of protection. Big knife .. Probably not a gun because I haven't used one since I was target practicing as a teen .
