PROBLEM: BAT picks your cover image and will likely not change it, even if you request it. I had sunset cover pictures that I requested to be the lead image, but they said they want a plain and normal shot that highlights the car, not the surroundings. It is very likely that these images you post will get lost in the hundred other pictures they request.

Yes, I think I realized after doing a lot more auctions since making this video that BaT makes some bizarre choices with what they put as the main image! I always try to sequence my images so that the first 5 or 6 images are the ones I would want as the main photo, but, bafflingly, sometimes BaT will dig to the 20th picture, and choose that one. Generally I have found that they're flexible, and if you want to use a different photo for the main listing before the listing is approved, they'll agree to your request, as long as the image fits their requirements (front three-quarter, even lighting, representative of vehicle, etc.)

Sweet 996 GT3. Isn't it funny how the once "black sheep 996" until recently could be bought comparatively cheaply compared to other 911s? Now, they are also up there. I really like the high angle perspective shots for sports cars. Do you prefer to be able to see through the windshield or not? Have a great week....

Haha, you're so right. The 996 was always nice to drive, and I think people are starting to realize that a 996 is closer to, say, a 993 in size/materials/spirit than... a 992 is. I think it's nice to see through the windshield, with a black interior it's pretty subtle. If I'm using a circular polarizer, I'll rotate it to try to avoid having the 'white out' reflection across the whole windshield, which I find distracting and unpleasant.

@@capturingthemachine Thanks! Ever since the 981, I've been really into the GT4. I had hopes for a bit that I might be able to get one used some day at a reasonable price. Doubt that will happen now. Hell, I doubt you can even get a 914 reasonably any more, especially one with a six banger.

Can you show us the vehicle you took pictures of that did the best regarding the sale price or price above the reserve?

It's hard to say, I wish the price was completely based on photos (haha), but there are so many factors that weigh heavily, like mileage, condition, specification, even time of year. BaT is not responsible for car prices (it's a symptom of larger issues, not the cause), and an auction site that values car photography on a widespread level is good for photographers! I am spoiling the next video but anyway 😂

@@capturingthemachine That's true. But BaT is definitely enabling the setting of the sad market standards for anything interesting these days - it benefits them financially. They also selectively cancel high bids on some cars, and not others. *Shrug* But I'm super happy for the photographers - I'm one of them.
