watched this series on a whim 8 years ago, and still have to say I have never regretted that decision. I wasn't very interested in harem anime to begin with, simply because I'm a straight girl. I really enjoyed watching the girls interact with each other and not be enemies on screen (like why is this so rare? You can be rivals and still be nice to each other, anyway I digress). But for me, the best part was Keima. He's so different from other harem protagonists that I've seen. He has some kind of charm about him despite him not being the nicest guy around. I don't know what I'm typing anymore but I just really like Keima

It's great but I hate what they did with the third season and just skipping to the goddess arc. I'm also not a fan of how the manga ends in the least but I love everything before it. Maybe it's asking too much but I would like to have seen what some harem manga do where each girl gets their own epilogue instead of settling on just one. I guess I took it particularly hard because she was my least favorite in the entire series.

I feel like having a traditional take on music is a lot more rare today. The traditional style of opera, movements, and orchestration do have a quality to them that I don't think is matched by many, but it just requires so much more effort to get going than making a 2-3 minute quick song out of a garage using audacity to edit. (not to discount the hustlers, but it's not always the best quality.) The quality has gone down, the quantity has gone up and that makes me sad. An analogy would be, "I wish we just had more time to make gold, rather than sell iron before it's fully tempered." Even with all the advancements to make it easier it still requires a lot of effort, and why make something hard when you can make something easy, and it still sells well?

I just think of this one as a musical reenactment of the basic story. The first part being when he is just playing the game, the second being when he accepts what he thought was a mere challenge (what is the best you can do), the third being his coping with being forced into the mission and doing his calculated measures to win the girl's heart (the god only knows part), the fourth is the moment he goes "I can see the ending" and enacts the final plan, and the final portion is when the girl's memory is gone but is still strong from the love she felt that she no longer has the gap in her heart. And since the story is awesome, so is the song.

This song is the reason I like this anime so much. Normally you don't hear OSTs with lyrics be used nearly as much as this song was in the anime, but it works incredibly well. Not only does it perfectly capture the heart of the anime, but it also works as the perfect catalyst to bring scenes to their apex with little to no dialogue. I feel as thought I'm rewatching the greatest moments in this anime purely from memory while listening to this.

I find it interesting to listen how Japanese singers tend to add pauses between non-voiced consonants, such as _temptation_ which becomes _temputation_ . They also stress words and barely pronounce some vowels, such as _possibilities_ which becomes _possbilities_ . That must be due to the fact English has a stress-based accent while Japanese has a pitch-based accent. It makes Japanese sound a lot more melodious I believe, but it makes English rap much easier to understand - or sing. In Canadian French we only drop the word-final E at the end of a phrase in a song. EDIT: now that I now more about Japanese, it's clear that a big reason why they "mispronounce" English like that is because of their writing system, which doesn't allow the same syllables as English. I find it truly fascinating how we all think about language in different ways :)

I have this memory of years and years ago. I was at my dad's house, back in his old house and when he hadn't had any children with my step mom. It was summer. I had my own room but I liked watching movies in the living room at night, even with no one around. One time I woke up in the middle of the night from awful nightmares, and was really scared, so I went downstairs to the TV, and I don't remember why but I put this song. My brother had watched the anime but I just watched one. It lulled me to sleep on the couch, filled with hope about something. Years pass and I finally tackle the anime in 2020 since this song was one of my utmost favorites. Goddamn I didn't think the anime would uphold the sheer quality that this song has. I have read a lot of manga, but I am confident when I say Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai is my MOST favorite. I usually like romances, or shonen, harems can be fun but usually annoying. Kami Nomi though? Gosh the feelings. THE FEELINGS. It's so good. I am glad my brother showed me the opening on OSU (lol). I will forever cherish the memories this anime/manga has given me.

*SPOILERS* I don't understand why people don't like Chihiro being who he ends up with. There are two big things that people need to consider when understanding and accepting the ending. One is that Chihiro is the only girl where a relationship between the real Katsuragi is an actual possibility. Look at all the girls who are goddesses. Shiori would read books all the time and Keima would play video games all the time. What about Kanon? SHE'S A FUCKING POP IDOL. At one point I believe someone said that there was a point where Kanon wasn't in town for a whole two months. And look at their relationship, while Keima may have ended up liking her a lot by the end of her arc, the actual relationship, having to give her constant pep talks, drained the hell out of him. He wouldn't of done any of that if he didn't have to for the conquest, even if he considered her a friend, chances are high that he wouldn't of been willing to stop playing the PFP if he had an option. Tsukiyo.... do I even need to say anything about Tsukiyo? No, seriously, did anyone ever look at her and go, "that's the girl"? Then with Yui.... while he, sorry she, has one of the funniest characters in anything, ever, I have a feeling Keima wasn't going to like the part where he would have to cross dress. Then the two girls that apparently half the fan base wanted, first off, Ayumi. The problem with her is that she would never have stood her ground or challenged him like Chihiro did. The whole relationship felt like it pulled a KiritoxAsuna from SAO where she went from a strong willed independent character who felt human in ep.1 to "I am madly in love with you and that will pretty much become my main character trait" by the end of S3. Remember that scene in season 3, you know, the BIG scene at the end if season 3, *spoiler warning again* where they get fucking married? If you ever watched the show, of course you do. She got fucking married to the guy, even after he wouldn't grant her one request of being completely honest about what was going on. Now, you can make the argument that Keima did, that he didn't have the time to do so, but if I was Ayumi, I can guarantee that an answer like that isn't exactly good enough right before you get "married". She became to much of a dog that was willing to senselessly roll over, and it wasn't fun or interesting to Katsuragi. Then there's Tenri, and you can say pretty much the same thing about her. Her love for Katsuragi is what made her boring to him. She was never willing to try and fight him on anything, and that was her big problem, she was too much of a yes man and not enough of, well, a Chihiro. And really there is one major problem that can sum up ALL of the goddess girls being the wrong choice. None of the girls fell in love with Keima per say, but more fell in love with the person he became to win their affection, The best example I can give of this is the second Shiori love arc, where he had to act like a very, very unique person to win her over again. The second big thing is more or less something that I already touched on some of the girls. It's very rare for me to run into a show where I can believe that the protagonist is, mostly, a regular person, not just some character some guy wrote down on some script, but I can actually look at them and honestly say that it IS a real person, mostly. Whenever a show reaches a point for me where I can believe that the main character is actually his own person, I start to really look at it as though the character will make decisions best for himself, and not just from a logic stand point, but from an emotional one. This show, along with FMA:Brotherhood is on a very short list along with other shows that are well written enough for me to believe something like that. So in wasting your time by making you read all of that, let me get to my point. I can believe, that if he was a real person, he would've picked Chihiro. For three reasons, first, she was the only girl who ever actually really challenged him, and she won. The other girls might have temporarily gotten mad at him at points, but did any girl ever actually beat Keima mentally like she did? No. None. He's the motherfucker who made one of the best burns in any show ever, to Haqua, *A FUCKING DEMON FROM HELL*, and yet Chihiro beat him. Second, it's very important to remember that there was absolutely, never, ever, a scene where Chihiro rolled over like the other girls. If she wanted answers, she damn well got them (i.e. S3 last episodes) which made her better than the other girls because, and I am quoting the manga's last chapter here, Keima-"She never does anything I say." Nikaido- "And that's why you love her, isn't it?" Keima- "......". He doesn't give a yes or no, but we all know what the silence means. Just her being like that, loving him, but willing to stay an independent strong person who makes her own choices, that alone made her a much better girl than all the others, but there was one more thing. Third, the fact that Chihiro loved him before any of the conquest began is one of the most important parts of the romance. Remember how I said the Goddess girls were bad fits because they didn't fall in love with the real Katsuragi? That doesn't apply to Chihiro. Dweeb and all, he was literally the cause of the void in her heart. She kept on chasing random guys because she wanted to find someone that filled the void since she didn't want to approach Keima in any romantic way for a long time. And honestly, realizing what the writer decided to do is what made this show, which I initially began watching because I thought it would suck, skyrocket to my favorite show, ever, which I may or may not have watched multiple times. What was it the writer decided to do exactly? They put in one of the most important lessons to learn about love in life. The shows fan base is split into quarters about who Keima should've ended up with, but Chihiro was the easy pick for one very big reason. See, some people say that he should've gone with Kanon, or Shiori, or Ayumi, ANYONE BUT CHIHIRO!!! But why is it that those people say that? Well, Kanon is an Idol, so if you have a choice then why wouldn't you go with the famous girl who loves you? Maybe you don't want an Idol, so what about the exact opposite? Maybe you're into the shy, cute, library girl? No? Then whatabout this girl, Ayumi Takahara, a fucking athlete with a future bright as the sun! Oh, yeah, and then there's this girl, Chihiro. Normal girl really. She's the lead in a band that isn't bad but it probably won't go far, other than that, not much to speak of. Oh, but she will love you for who you are and have a strong personality. And that's what really makes her the easiest pick, especially for Keima. It helps that their personalities fit so well together as well, but Keima really did just pick the best choice. People are entitled to their own opinions of course, but as someone who loves this show, and has analyzed it more than the creators probably expected most people to do, Chihiro is the best girl for him to end with. Period. Thank you one person that decided to finish reading this, and I wish that my fucking reports were as easy half to write as something like this.

Bravo, bravo! This is a fantastic post. There are some other reasons as to why I didn't think the other girls suited him, and as to why I thought Chihiro fit him best, but you pretty much summed it up nicely. I think something that is important to remember when you read things like TWGOK and start shipping is this: You aren't the main character, and you and the main character have different tastes. Just because you like a girl does not mean the main character will. I have spent way to much time analyzing the ending myself, and I came to pretty much the same conclusion. While Tenri, Elsie, and Haqua are my favorite girls, Keima and Chihiro are my favorite anime couple, and I've been rooting for them for the past four years.

vgamemaster4 Here's an idea, don't tell me what to do. If someone wants to read it, they can. If they don't, then why do I have a reason to give a damn? The reason the comment is so long is because I had to actually make a proper way to explain the ending to people who don't like it, which takes some space. Also, think about it for a second. Do you really think I would have typed out all of that, not to explain the ending, but instead to get a ton of "tl;dr's"?
