Nick and Tera Melos were humble kings when their FX equipment broke down and they did a show with no FX in front of my wife in I and two random drunk dudes in Stavanger, Norway. It's still in my top 3 shows of all time as I got to hang out and chat with the band during the show. It was probably a miserable day for them, but they pushed through and made it a freaking memorable show for the 1 fan and his wife. Thank you for that.

Really good stuff! I went to high school with Jeff Worms and played in a band with him at that time. He was the second guitar player in Tera Melos back in the 2000s). Ironically I also had an Introductory Psychology class in Community College with Nick in 2003 or 2004. Reinhart is a very special guitar player and I really can’t say enough about how much his music (and hella for that matter) impacted my life. Thank you Justin and Luke for the rad podcast as usual!

the version of the band with worms was so sick, not to take anything away from them now. i think i once saw worms filling is as the second guitarist with daughters too. never met either, great players though.

That was dope. It really reminds me that I can keep making shit weird even as I approach my 40s. I find that as I get older that people seem to 'grow out' or stop being interested in music and that makes me feel more like a fucking alien, just hearing the love for music and the ethic of it was good for my soul.

Because most people become zombies when they reach adulthood. They lose their curiosity and give up their illusions and dreams and just become slaves of society. That's why they're always uptight.

I member seeing vids of Tera Melos where they would open with a sample of Wonka's "Pure Imagination" and that has stuck with me for some reason almost 20 years later. It feels like it fits the music perfectly. Nick's music is harmonically rich and adventurous, while still remaining playful. A True Sonic Wizard 🙏

My favorite heckling story from a The Locust show was in OKC shortly after they had signed to ANTI-, and someone in the crowd asked, "Did Epitaph pay for those outfits?" to which the Gabe replied by promptly spitting on the dude from like 20 feet away behind his kit with the most perfectly cartoonish timing.

Once saw tera melos in a room of maybe 80 nerds in a little venue in Connecticut, vibes were really high and towards the end of the set Nick off mic was like “this is really cool thanks guys” - it just felt really genuine and i think about that a lot

Their whole talk about whether or not to sell out reminded me of the Rage Against the Machine song in the 90s Godzilla movie - where they took the paycheck - but used it to put out a song poking fun at consumerism - and even made a jab at the movie it's self

licensing these days is a shitshow. you're either a megapop artist who is already making millions of dollars or you're writing music with the intention of licensing. you can ID the latter easily, because their records sound like iPhone commercials. in other words, good bands aren't getting payed a million bucks for mcdonald's commercials lol
