I've been playing Death Stranding recently, and the more I get into this game, the more I feel like it could have been a Cosmere game where Humanity found the corpse of a Shard, and it messed up reality by merging Shadesmar with the Physical realm through some powerful Connection-based magic hahahaha Beach Things (B.Ts) are Shades, the powers in this world are a weird exploit of Connection between people and objects, The Beach is obviously Shadesmar (litteraly described as "The world between the world of the living and what comes after", and it's a manifestation of people's conception of what "death" is, a cognitive image if you will ;D), Timefall withers people like Shade attacks do, Extinction Entities are Avatars of a Splintered Shard's corrupted intent that causes the death of entire planets (seems to me like the Father Machine on Komashi !) Okay... Maybe I'm too enthusiastic about connecting the Cosmere to Death Stranding, but the similarities are staggering to me !

5:59 in regards to blood, I can't remember if this in the novella or a wob but it has to be with intent to spill someone else's blood. So if you got a bloody nose, all good. But if you punched someone and they started bleeding, then I think we might have problems.

It seems likely that the evil is semi-self aware investiture left over from splinters of ambition.(probably corrupted in some way) it's been said that large amounts of pooled(inactive) investiture can gain sentience given enough time, and this investiture has(assumedly, I don't know the timeline of the shard battle and the evil showing up) had a long time to evolve. also I was honestly expecting the shades eyes to change to red at the end of the video.
@jasonioan3 ай бұрын
I agree! I thought I had mentioned that in the video with the nomad quote, but maybe I forgot? Regardless, I think you're right and that they're at least some of those chunks that got ripped off Ambition and they developed sentience. I thought about changing their eye color! I just couldn't figure out a way to make it look good. The lights in the eyes were only Green LED and changing the color in post didn't look super great. Also I was burning copper the whole time and that seemed to hide me somewhat.

My theory about what is wrong with Threnody and the presence of the Evil after the splintering of Ambiton had to be apart of whatever Odium had done to make their Unmade. It’s just seems like Odium took something from his shardic conflicts either directly or indirectly and used them as the basis for Unmaking. I can’t help to draw a comparison to the changes to the Singers after the imprisonment of Ba Ado Mishrim to the Threnodites. I haven’t seen any of the WaT previews yet, so this may not apply anymore.

so here is my theorie on how to get to Threnody: you have to wait in the Cognitive Realm (CR) for someone to die, then when the person enters the CR as a Cognitive Shadow (CS) and his CS is pushed back to the Physical Realm (PR), you grab on to them, form a Connectin with him somehow (for example a Duralumin Medallion) and go with him to the PR.

One of my pet fan theories is that perpendicularities to Threnody somehow form in pools of blood. Morbid, transient, fits with the darkness of the world, and potentially gives shades a reason to not want blood to be spilt
@jasonioan3 ай бұрын
That’s one of my ideas as well. I’ve thought that for a while, but the only thing that gives me pause is that Brandon said it has to do with the shard dying nearby and I’m not sure how that would relate with pools of blood. Although, It might be a high concentration of people dying in the same vicinity. All those cognitive shadows appear at once might poke a hole in the realms

Ironically, I think the Forests of Hell are one of the *safest* places to visit, there are no predators, natural or otherwise (Shades don't count because they don't actively seek out people to kill unprovoked), murder or any physical scuffle is incredibly dangerous for anyone involved or nearby (and hence likely very rare), and the Shades won't attack unless you break one of the Three Simple Rules. So as long as you're careful/aware enough to not stumble through a Shade, and don't get on someone's bad side enough for them to sick a trained killer on you, you should be fine.

And just like the case of Honor in Roshar, could Uli Da’s personality, her Cognitive Shadow have survived through one of her Splinters somehow? We know she died outside of the Threnodite system, but maybe some of what she was lives on in the Evil? Kind of like how Leras died to imprison Ruin, but the Shard retained a piece of his personality for millennia after that before eventually dissipating completely around the time of Mistborn Secret History. Maybe something similar is happening here. And as I understand her Intent, Ambition seems to want to possess and take as many things as possible, so that is maybe why the Evil seized the Homeland and killed everyone there, cause it wanted to have it all to itself

And I wonder if Uli Da, being a Sho Del, posed as a goddess to the humans living in Threnody somehow? I don’t know if she would want to do that, but who knows, maybe she enjoyed having humans bowing to her and worshipping at her feet. I still think she might have had something to do with transporting some of her kind to other planets in the Cosmere, like U Tol
