I have to agree with you. These fish are listed by conservation groups as one step from “endangered". Once they are classified as "endangered", none of us will be fishing for them. I would also encourage my partner and friends to release them whenever they have the opportunity to do so. But in the end, it's a personal decision one has to make for themselves. It's pretty impressive to catch such a large fish, it's even more impressive to have the balls to release it. That said, I am not going to judge or deride those anglers who wish to keep them either. That would serve no purpose. It takes an enormous amount of time, effort, patience, and money to catch these fish. And I can't blame someone for wanting to bring one back to the dock, take some pictures, show some friends and save some for the BBQ. It may not be the best side of human nature, but it's human nature none-the-less. You have to go out fishing twenty times or so, get your ass beat and not catch a fish to truly appreciate this. Hopefully, by informing and encouraging people, they will start releasing these fish more often. I am not so sure judging or insulting someone is going to be as effective.

@kenjihojyo7174 жыл бұрын
I think that people who comment about killing endangered species are not well informed on the subject, so I want to set something straight, Fisheries are highly regulated in the US, and there's a lot of information regarding which species cannot be taken out of the water, killed, harvested etc.. due to their status, (I.E, Goliath Grouper, Giant Black Seabass), the Common Thresher shark is not in that list, and it's 100% legal to harvest them.
@NightOwlUtopia Жыл бұрын
You haven’t addressed the fascination with killing when you don’t NEED to… it’s for sport, you aren’t doing it for survival. We already kill a lot of animals and there is a surplus of meat that has been killed. So that begs the question WHY? To me it’s sick, that you people have some sadistic pleasure in needlessly killing extra animals for “fun”.

This is sick. People need to stop fucking fishing sharks for sport!!!! They are getting destroyed thoroughly enough as by catch and fishing en masse for their fins!!! They are SO IMPORTANT TO OUR OCEANS NATURAL BALANCE!!!!! which is so insanely important right now! Please just educate yourselves on this issue and if you MUST (feel you must for some bizarre reason) hunt them, then catch and release! CATCH AND RELEASE! Do as little damage as is possible and put them BACK in the ocean where they maintain balance Please 😩
@chasintailtv8 жыл бұрын
I agree with almost everything you said. We typically try to release the sharks we catch. But occasionally, one will be kept, eaten, and truly appreciated. I know that won't satisfy everyone, but it's the honest truth. I am not sure if fishing for sport is considered "bizarre" as it's the most participated sport in the world. But again, I appreciate what you're saying and your enthusiasm for conservation. Hopefully, we as sportfishermen can be as conscientious as possible for the welfare of the individual fish we catch, as well as the species as a whole.

They are highly vulnerable to extinction, like most sharks species, who only can get impregnated at around the age of 28, this is why there are a lot of people coming and trying to defend sharks.
fishing for fun is disgusting. Sharks help with the ecosystem like wolves do. They keep things in check and yet people fish them for stupid reasons or stupider still, their fins for 'medicinal purposes'. Threshers are amazing
