That chorus...saw them in manchester two days ago. This and Hurricane move me in ways few songs do.

It has that U2 -STILL HAVEN’T FOUND WHAT IM LOOKING FOR “ vibe plus I think it has similar chord progressions 😊

I'm gonna be honest I don't hear this connection at all. I hear some similarities to Circa Survive and Thursday, though. With almost a folk style, borderline gospel rock vocal

@@Jaikanatar You really can’t hear the similarities? It’s very obvious.

It's kind of funny, when you look at "song meaning" sites, there's always a big argument about this song. Half of the comments say it's about Dustin's wife, even though it's pretty clearly about Dustin's relationship with God. Who would say to their wife "It's true that you could snap my neck / I trust you'll save my life instead"?

+Alex Mott He is an optimistic and forgiving man singing about his tyrannical abusive wife :DDD

even though i think it is about god, i believe it can also be interpreted directly to protecting the values of an open and free society and defending her from both internal and external forces of evil. "if we heard the howling id run out and face it alone." that is at least what i gain from this song, even tho it probably isnt correct. either way, dustin is an extremely over looked and under appreciated lyricist. thrice as a whole is vastly underappreciated.

"its true that you could snap my neck, but i trust you will save my life instead." again, definitely referring to god here, but it can also be used to show how freedoms, in specific the constitution, (when not fully understood, appreciated, and protected) can be the down fall of a society.

Oh come now u hurt the ones u love the most and the ones u love have the tightest hold on ur heart God possibly being one of the possible loves yet a beloved woman can overpower every aspect of a person's mind causing a vulnerable spot much like a neck or the equivalent to an animal showcasing a belly shot

Sam^ is mostly correct, but it is also about his relationship w/his wife. Like Sam stated, Dustin took from previous Thrice songs, hence 'Anthology'. Most of said songs have to do with his relationship with his wife "either directly or indirectly". And if you don't believe ME, then take it directly from the "horse's mouth" (See below for interview w/Dustin Kensrue. The link for the entire interview & every song's meaning is just below/at the very bottom of this comment) You're welcome! ;) 10. Anthology "This song pulls bit and pieces of imagery from six previous Thrice songs; Atlantic, The Whaler, In Years To Come, Silhouette, Trust, and The Weight. Hence, the name Anthology. I always dig little inside self-references, whether in music or film. I was listening to The White Album today and realized that I had forgot that Glass Onion does something similar, though a little less subtle. Most of these six songs directly or indirectly dealt with my relationship with my wife through the years, some even before we were married, and I thought it would be fun to build a song out of the some of the pieces. Also the idea fit the mood of the song rather well. I suppose I could have let you dig through it and figure it out yourself, but you did buy the cool vinyl package right?" www.rocksound.tv/features/read/thrice-major-minor-by-dustin-kensrue
