We can do all that without religion imo. Some just need to be guided by it in some way, also need a constant source of hope... But I'm not a fan of wishful thinking personally. You just need to find a balance and avoid becoming cynical, by losing your hope completely. But we always/often don't help each other cope and keep that hope alive (cope and hope, I smell a lyric here), and no God will help... No matter if we see what we wanna see (being disconnected from reality, or downright evil/mean and having a twisted version of reality in your mind thanks to the great values and the confusion/paranoia they feed you, are both bad choices, and choices have consequences... if only humanity could be wise and serious/mature).

@@hawkstrike18 Speak for yourself m8. Athiesm is the worst religion imo
@hawkstrike182 жыл бұрын
@@ZitiPatrol indeed, that's an opinion. I mentioned mostly facts. Or at least a useful line of observations on several things/aspects of life. You provided no (counter)argument whatsoever. And you probably think you proved wrong everything I've said by using a single line that isn't even original/deep... Not to offend you but... Goes to show what kinds of ppl resort to religion, maybe. "I cba to analyze and think, I'd rather believe in something vague and even put blind trust to whoever manages church, and let them dictate what's wrong, right, what I should fear and resist and vote for, etc"... I've seen the consequences of these too many times in my own country (it's not even Iran). If you want to hide from the fact that manipulative "religious" figures with "values" govern and cash in on ppl of faith and laugh behind your backs, fine, but yh, I speak for myself when I say I won't hide from facts (and I won't let some of them, that don't even occur magically/innocently, turn me cynical and desperate enough to be exploited easily... Stare at the Sun...). *Not that I value most atheists too tho, they are often straight up elitist and insecure/megalomaniac/crazy and I've actually seen a couple of them bullying others online because they're religious. Guess who reported them and who waited for God to help them, or something like that. Whoever is Christian and has real values (how many truly are+have???), lives by them. But more often than not, all I see is hypocrisy, exploitation and false positive words/prayers, and in practice, hate and fanaticism, absolutism, immaturity, shallowness, insecurities, loss of every sliver of hope and innocence and faith in humanity, and denial, plus a tendency to excuse "me, myself and my religion('s crimes & any opposite of innocence you may think of)". Well, bottom line: humans with values don't necessarily have values because of religion, and not every positive thing should be attributed to religion; or science, or philosophy, etc. Generally, humankind has many sides and it's complex, and each side has it's own sides, positive or detrimental and self-destructive. Oversimplifications and short sentences that are also one-sided, will never do justice to what reality and truth is. Religions, no matter how good intent they hold (held), have done more bad than good, and the good they've done can be achieved without an empty faith. The good can be achieved by wanting to do good, by true faith in *each other's good side* (imagine that in the world of today, under capitalism and the ?!?!help?!?! religion and the billions of ppl of faith have offered with all these - do you realize something doesn't add up right?) without blind faith to random "successful"&"wise" ppl or to hypothetical entities that let their "perfection" rot, and constant support and osmosis between us. In the age of parallel monologues and hostility.... while religion only keeps so many countries' ppl behind and multiplies the superstitions and oppression and often sadistic rules and things that in reality belong to the past for a good reason. Whoever is mature doesn't need to be babysitted by any book etc, not to such extents anyway. What has religion done for true progress? Have you read *anything* about how much death it has brought upon ppl of different and previous religions, how many temples and artifacts were destroyed to be replaced? Is destruction part of the path towards love?! Towards anything positive and any true value, maybe? p.s. whatever part of the above is false, debunk it, I'm always learning. But so far what I've known and seen in (supposedly) religious ppl (friends of mine, too, sadly, in the post COVID era) is very specific motives and mentalities that are pushed to be exploited. Nothing good or hopeful about propaganda afaik. And religion may offer you some relief but so do video games, cocktails, talks with normal ppl, arts, farts, sports, etc. Should we worship these too? Take everything with moderation. Balance is good. Worshipping (aka fanboyism) anything or anyone is not balanced, it pushes ppl to extremes and makes them closeminded. I could go on but I doubt anyone will ever comment (with actual arguments and no hostility) on even half of the things I typed already.

"We are the image of the invisible" - this is a clear reference to Genesis 1:26ff. This fits because Dustin Kensrue is a Christian, seemingly much more faithfully now than earlier on. The atheistic Marxist worldview of power struggles, which can only be resolved through the strong arm of the state, flatly contradicts the Biblical worldview, even the version that's presented in this song. Marxism (aka socialism/communism) is built on breaking three of the 10 Commandments: coveting (we deserve to have what you have), theft (we can take what you have by force), and idolatry (the state can satisfy all our desires in the place of the one, true, and living God). Coveting and theft are acts of hate towards neighbour because they disrespect the image of God in them. Idolatry is an act of hate towards God because it seeks to usurp His rightful place. In contrast, the entire message of the song can be boiled down to, "We demand to be treated as those made in the image of God (meaning that we have inherent value, dignity, and worth)". Thus, I strongly disagree with you comment regarding this song.

Image of the Invisible is clearly an allusion to the bible, Christ being the image of the invisible God and us being made in the image of God. We're more than carbon and chemicals is a retort to atheists that say that we're nothing special. "Raise up the banner, bend back your bows. Remove the cancer, Take back your souls." This is seems to be clear that he's not talking about literally fighting cancer, but fighting the devil. That's why he says "we all were lost and we are found". Another allusion to the bible about the parable of the prodigal son where the father says, "My son was dead and is alive again. He was lost and is found". Thrice...Trinity. They're christians dude.
