Every time I think of oysters , I think of my poor Mother when she was pregnant. The ONLY food she could keep down during the first 3 months was RAW OYSTERS...🙁. Of course back in the 1950’s they didn’t have tips to help. She actually was in the hospital for 2 out of 5 pregnancies for a couple of weeks for dehydration. Those large oysters shells are gorgeous!!, I always love your crafts made from them! So my answer is BOTH ! ❤️❤️❤️

Love the oyster jars the best. I can imagine the shells as a light fixture. A little like the ball but a wire cage instead inside to create the shade then either gorilla glue or with holes drilled through each shell and tied if they can be drilled for more permanence.

You showed the shell cross & jar before but that ball is gorgeous!! My husband's been working down close to Houston & one of his co-workers brought him fresh oysters still in the shells a week or so ago. I don't remember if he told me where the guy got them. I told him "save the shells because I need to make a shell cross like Julie!" I've told him all about you :)

I really ended up loving that oyster ball and could see that hanging in a window or outside on a porch if you could figure a way to hang it. I'm in FL so I have such an over abundance of shells that I'm always collecting and looking for creative ways to use them.

You could take a really strong glue (not hot glue-and one that won't melt styrofoam) and glue ribbon as you wrap it around the ball. Take a smaller piece of ribbon and slide it under the ribbon you are gluing to the ball. Finish gluing down the longer piece of ribbon until it goes all around the ball. Tie a bow or knot whichever you prefer in the shorter ribbon-that's what you will use to hang the finished oyster ball. I think a gray satin ribbon would be beautiful. White or light colored rope would be pretty too.
