Hi there this is a Canadian (i am in Saskatchewan yay lol) this is my first time hearing about #thriftycanucks !!! very excited to hear about this - the best way you can tell a real mother of pearl button is to hold it to your cheek it should be pretty cold! Happy hunting!

Yes Angela!! It’s taffeta! I simply couldn’t remember what it was called. Thank you for letting me know. Hope you are doing well and enjoying the summer! 💐Marnel

You found many great items Marnel! The linens are gorgeous. I wouldn’t have been able to pass up this little stamp envelopes either, the stamps are just a bonus lol. The wildflower tea card book is so beautiful. I have a soft spot for vintage cook books too; I can’t stop buying them, even though I’ll never use them all. 😂 you also found a long of really unique ephemera pieces too, can’t wait to see what you make with everything!

Hi Marnel. Glad you are getting use out of your stamp stock storage book. 🥰 I think the automobile book with the Roman numerals is 1971. I had the same automobile book when I first started junk journaling but gave most of the pages away in happy mail because I wasn't quite sure how to include car stuff in my journals. 😋
@miemieskeepsakes2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Camille. I’ll have to think about how to include the automobile images in my journals. I thought of making faux postcards. Will let you know what I came up with. Hope you are doing well.

I think that fabric style is called moire? I'm curious how you'll use the record covers; I just bought some similar ones at an estate sale and sat and pondered how to fold/cut/use them in a journal just other day! :) Handwritten pages tucked into old books are the best surprises :)
@miemieskeepsakes2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I love finding those little surprises in the books. I’ll have a video soon on how I am planning to use the record covers. I want to add glassine or transparency for a window and use it as pages or journal covers.

Great finds!!! Love the brown paper & string. I think you are set for life on those. The stamps & glassine envelopes are fantastic. We all love stamps. Great flower cards. Those would cost a fortune to buy. I love putting old recipes in a journal. Old record sleeves??!!! What a great idea. You may be able to look online and find out release dates on those. I like to sometimes stamp the date on papers from old books. Cuz there's only a date on one page. I have a stamp that you can put numbers and/or letters. So I can use to stamp information from source of papers I use. Amount other things. I use that stamper a lot. Yes, I saw Gaile's label video. I made a bunch like she did. Even bought same label stamps!! Haha! You got some great pamphlets!! "TV Troubles in 10 Minutes"??!! And its already got stained pages. What a find!! I LOVE the hand writing book. Beautiful. TV manual is fantastic. All those diagrams!!! You did good picking up great paper stuffs!! That automobile book is better than digitals anyday!!! Lol. Thx for video. Austin,TX USA

@@miemieskeepsakes Yes, they will make fantastic labels!!! I'm afraid to go to thrift store. I already have supplies I bought and haven't used yet. When I first started junk journals, I had nothing. No supplies. But I'm sure I have gone overboard. I told my son, at least I'm not a gambler or a criminal!!! Just a crazy crafter!!!

Making a bicycle themed journal would be fun to do with the King of the Road book that you got. Not a normal journal you see other people make all the time.

Great haul. So many interesting things. I bought 2 boxes of old patterns at an estate sale. Not sure what to do with them. What will you do with yours?
@miemieskeepsakes2 жыл бұрын
I use the envelopes as book covers and pockets in my journals or I simply cut the illustrations and use them. I use the sewing and instructions papers for collage, envelopes and pages. So many ideas…
