You're feeding my new addiction! I have plenty of puzzles in my house that need to be solved, but I just want to go out and buy more! It was so funny to see the puzzles that you passed up, as I was screaming at you (not really screaming) to buy this one or that one, and then you bought the ones I would have passed on! That's why there are so many different puzzles to choose from, we all have our own preferences!

Oh my, the Dog Park Puzzle from Antelope, I loved. My son got it for me in 2023 for my birthday. If you like comic style puzzle, I think you will love it.

That is an amazing haul. That PuzzleTwist puzzle was last year's speed run puzzle for USAJPA. It features art by the winner of their puzzle design contest. That's such a cool thrifting find!

Awesome haul! My library just had it's yearly sale and I was able to pick up a few puzzles. I need to go to my thrift store. I haven't been since before Christmas. I was going too often and wasn't finding much. Love the image on the Christian Lacroix plus it's brand new. I have The Bookshop but haven't done it yet. I love bookish puzzles. I always enjoy Charles Wysocki puzzles.

Nice! I went on a thrift shop binge this week, too. I hit five Goodwills. One was a total bust. (The one I expected to have the best stuff had nothing worthwhile at all. That's what I get for making assumptions.) But I picked up 13 puzzles across the other four locations. And, like you, I could have bought more. There was a nice wooden puzzle, and one or two that were brands I wanted to try, but the images didn't send me, so I left them for some other lucky puzzler. Between those and the six I picked up at my neighborhood Goodwill the week before, I should be set for a while!

Man! Those are some good thrift shops! The ones around me don't have any of the nicer puzzles. Mostly random brands or buffalo, ceaco, masterpieces. I did see a springbox today but the box wasn't closed so I was worried it would be missing pieces.

Luckily the thrift stores near me either use rubber bands or tape to keep the boxes closed. Makes me feel a little bit better buying so many.

I love the look of the New Yorker ones. They are pretty hard to get in the U.K. also it seems your thrift stores are a lot better value than ours. On average they seem to come in around $6 for second hand.

Some are about that price. Many are in the $3-$5 range. Really depends on where you go.

I had an opportunity to buy some Puzzle Twists when I first started buying used puzzled...a husband was helping his wife sell off some of her puzzles that he told me at the meetup to pick them up were speed practice for her. Afterwards, I considered grabbing more from the lot but the price suddenly shot up with notes about how much they sell for new, so I don't know if the wife got upset with the price he sold them for or what (I paid $5ea...a year later and I'm hard-pressed to pay more than $3 for a used puzzle because we have some really good puzzle prices, especially at Savers, but I typically am willing to pay more to people versus a store) so I never reached back out to him. You can tell they were speeding along with them because I had to fix pieces from every puzzle I've done from the bundle so far (still have 1 to go) including one with the image torn off of a knob and a couple pieces with knobs torn off of them completely...I now keep glue at hand because you can't be picky when you're buying used and I still have to mend some of my new puzzles, though they're not injured to that extent, usually. Nice finds! I love that bottle Ravensburger and I'd LOVE to find a Puzzle Twist in the wild. I will be going to California in the summer and I'm hoping to go thrifting as I see a bunch of people find much more niche brands there, though I will plan ahead to NOT be entitled to my state's pricing and feel sticker shock constantly (it will help keep me from bringing home too many, though).

Nice Deal!! California Thrift stores are all over the place with pricing. Typically at Goodwill I'd find them for $3-$5. At Savers usually between $2.50-$5.99. Local thrift stores are a lot of resellers (At least where I was) - so I find are overpriced on certain brands.

How do you clean and disinfect your thrifted puzzles? I've purchased clothes and other items from thrift stores that have been easy wash or wipe down with disinfect.

I don't... I suppose you could try a UV light/disinfectant system. I know that's what Completing the puzzle uses between uses of their puzzles.

@@thecasualpuzzler Guess I'll need to research the cost, effectiveness and how time consuming it is to use. I'll be on the look out for ones that have not been opened or ones with the pieces still in the original plastic bag. It's been awhile since I've been in thrift store closest to me and don't recall seeing any puzzles, only games & children's toys.

Do you get these and find any pieces missing? I find so many but only have bought a few because I’m afraid they are missing pieces. Not sure if they count them? Hey the worlds hardest puzzle I saw in your video the leprechauns, Karen puzzles has this one and it’s a really old one. Thought it was fun seeing that find.

I have been pretty lucky. I would say overall 90% of the ones I've gotten thrifted had all their pieces.

Your thrift stores seem better than mine. The last two I got from a thrift store had lots of cat hair?, a little off putting.

You are very fortunate to have a number of charity shops or thrift stores as you call them, in your area. Some very good finds and great prices for them. Where I live there isn't much available so I tend to buy all my jigsaws via eBay or jigsaw websites.
