If you don't have a chance to wash a thrifted item before wearing it, I recommend some sort of disinfecting fabric spray (check the material and verify before using though!). I got the Lysol Disinfectant Fabric Spray for any leather/suede I thrift and it's gone well!

I'd defiantly recommend washing thing immediately from the thrift store since you don't who wore them last or where they've been. Its one way to bring bugs and pests into your house if you're not careful like bedbugs, carpet beetles, or even moths. Besides bedbugs, carpet beetles and moths like to eat natural materials and can destroy your clothes. My last roommate didn't wash his thrift store finds and eventually the carpet beetles and larvae were in my freshly washed bed and clothes! They chewed holes in my underwear. It was a nightmare to deal with for two years. I got so worried about my many precious vintage fur, leather, and wool things I've inherited from family and friends!😨 I'm doing lots better now that I live with my partner who doesn't think carpet beetles are little friends to kiss in bed lol!

I'm so jealoussss! Wearing thrifted clothes without washing is perfect fine to me- I mean if they don't smell or have stains then I don't see the harm. I do think you should more cautious with sleeved shirts though because of pit sweat but other than that I do it all the time since most of my clothes are thrifted (and because our dryer is broken lol)

I use to be BIG on washing my thrifted clothes BUT that was when I had the luxury of having an in-unit washer and dryer😭washing my clothes just doesn’t seem worth it unless I have a big load. But totally agree I’m always super cautious of the pit stains😬

You can absolutely have a brick and mortar store of you want to! I know you would make it work and the store would be amazing! Also, it would be so so fun to do a LA meet-up before hours thrift event of some kind! You have great ideas, definitely trust that. And sharing the space/ collaborating could be another way of having a store but splitting rent. Have you been to Space City Vintage in Little Tokyo? There are multiple independent sellers sharing the space. I feel like that is a cool thing to come across as a buyer as well- multiple stores in one! And I personally like supporting independent sellers even if I end up paying more than going to a thrift store. The curation takes so much time, energy, and creativity on your part, it’s totally worth it. Anyways! You’re incredible so I know you’ll figure something out✨

Brick and Mortal is REALLY difficult, there's just so many costs and cash is king. You might do better with pop-ups or show vending. Edit: I forgot you did the market already. But you can do pop-ups or vend at other events too.
