Hi Eggies!!! We are giving Thriftcon a go this year! Wasn't totally sure what to expect but spent 6 hours exploring both floors so keep watching to see who was vending, what kind of clothes was selling, and how much items were! Will you be going to Thriftcon next year???

For me Thriftcon wasn’t really my taste, I’m not super big into vintage t-shirts (which was like 80% of the whole event). I’m glad we went to support some friends and overall I thought it was just okay.

I think thriftcon is for the people who don't go to thrift stores, but love the vintage style. Some people are bad at picking clothes, cant find anything, don't have the time to thrift or just don't like to pick through a bunch of clothes. Those people will gladly pay up for these events because everything is in one place. :) I'm actually surprised how many t-shirt vendors vs fem vendors :/

Yeah totally see this for sure! Just with the name “thriftcon” I thought it would be somewhat more like a thrift store or something different than the already existing flea market scene in LA. There’s already at least 2 fleas in every sub neighborhood in LA that look just like thriftcon so was a lil disappointed. it just felt like an indoor flea (tshirt galore) with $12 admission🤷🏻‍♀️✨

HI QUEEN! Thank you so much for stopping by and for all your kind words. 🥺😭 To answer your question, I source at basically any thrift store I pass by and tend to look through most everything in the women's section at least! I do get a little wholesale now, but 90% is thrifted in the LA area. I do this fulltime so I'm digging 4-5 days a week. And ahhhh I totally missed that hole in the butterfly dress too. I'm going to DM you on ig because I have something I wanna send you 🥰

Ahh thanks for watching and commenting!!! Absolutely love your curated inventory!!! Honestly such a dream job! I’d love to source all day every day! At one point I wanted to be a buyer for goodwill but my ass can’t drive!😭I’ve been looking into rag houses but not very many focus in eccentric 90s/y2k aesthetic plus they’re pretty expensive too! Hope to run into ya while out sourcing or on a Flea day!💗✨

I’ve been waiting for this video. I loved thrifcon in 2019. I got some pretty cool things and got some genuine vintage for a steal. I think I spent around $150 and left with bags of stuff I’m still obsessed with. It’s also nice to network and make friends. Sucks I couldn’t go this time but this seems WAYYYY bigger than when I went. When I went there was way more variety. I think you would’ve loved a few of the vendors back then, they had the cutest vintage lingerie. Maybe a lot of the people from previous years didn’t return but there was definitely way more variety before. I think Thriftcon is more about people who thrift not actual thrift shops. Sometimes people come to trade thrifted items as well. Also I’m still obsessed with your orange pants.

Yeahhhh I’m thinking maybe it was one of those things that as thrifting became popular this event was able to capitalize more on it. But I was talking to another vendor the other day and apparently it was a first come first serve with how vendors could apply and that led to the inequality of vendors then they put on a livestreams to make up for it buuuuut I was actually part of those livestreams and even that was disorganized. They didn’t promote me as much as the other auctioneers maybe cause I sold on the last day aaaaand they promised not to deduct fees and still did! So I went back and forth via email to get my money back. But, those live-streamed Defs did not make as much as they could if invited to vend in person. So that kinda sucked especially for those who curated a collection. Hopefully they learn from this year and take in feedback and constructive criticism to make this event accessible and affordable for EVERYONE. Ooo the pants are from magma vintage not sure if they have orange left but last time I checked they had yellow in stock!

Hi! I Love your videos ❣❤ I'm from Belarus (it's small country near Russia, Poland and Ukraine) and in our country we have pretty similar event, it's called "open shkaf", which translates like open wardrobe. The idea of it is mostly the same, but there are much more handmade/remade clothes there , as well as some small businesses not related to clothes (ceramics, jewelry, eco or vegan products and ect.). Speaking about prices, they still more expensive than in thrift stores, but they are pretty affordable as well. And experience of coming there in general is really nice. I think it's because of cozy decorations and soft music:) Thank you for your videos ❤💕

wow what is the point of thriftcon? if you like thrifting, why would you go shop resellers with those high prices instead of actually going thrifting or shopping resellers online? i get it more with the piles of cheap stuff but it seems like it wasn't interesting stuff, so i'm not sure what the advantage is over going to goodwill outlets or other places that do the pile-of-cheap-stuff approach. it seems like more for people who don't like the experience of thrifting but want to buy thrifted things in person and are willing to pay more for it? it doesn't even seem like much curated in terms of vintage from different time periods. but maybe they're just curated in a different way for particular aesthetics that i don't understand. also, maybe unpopular opinion, but i don't think this is a con? it seems like basically a flea market that has a focus on thrifted things. i am not a fan of people calling everything a con just because they want to get crowds there. but if they had like panel discussions of thrifting strategy and social events and special guests and such, then i would understand calling it a con.
@twinelle
@twinelle 2 жыл бұрын
I meannnn I can’t speak on the t-shirts since I’m not too knowledgeable on them but the vendors selling womens apparel Defs we’re curated and had clothes from a specific decade so I saw 70s, 90s, and Y2K. But you’re TOTALLY RIGHT!!! Maybe I’m so used to living in LA and them calling literally any big indoor event a convention that It totally slipped my mind! thriftcon was NOT a convention at all. Yes, it gathered like minded ppl but not necessarily thrifters…more like resellers. I cut out so much of me talking in this video cause I didn’t want it to be too long but before the edits I did talk about how it felt like a big indoor flea market. Aaaand there’s already so many in each sub neighborhood that this felt like the ultimate flea with ultimate essspensive prices! Fleas in the area have cheaper admission and cheaper priced items! But no discussion panels or event to attain knowledge on clothes, reselling, fashion history, nothing!!! If they rebranded to vintagecon they could pay the vendors to share their knowledge on idk how to spot a certain decade when sourcing, how to wash vintage clothing, how to style…, etc. reallyyyy Hope thriftcon takes in all the constructive criticism because I’d love to attend again if they focused more on the clothes/vendors than capitalizing off “thrifting” but thanks for commenting! Defs had me thinking more about this event!!!✨

I can sure relate to all of those Tshirts!! Earlier this week I stopped into this small store that had the word Weird in its name, hoping to see some interesting but weird stuff (as it is always fun looking at such stuff)... But like it was mostly giant man sized T-shirts! And they were way over priced too! $20 & $30 each! The black ones were mostly faded as well. And not a single woman's T-shirt anywhere in sight either. Besides shirts they had a few figurines and used video games. Totally boring place. But no odd smells in that place. Walked out disappointed. And most of those shirts were men's XL and had boring graphics. The black shirts looked faded too. 😞 nothing for little ladies.

Every reseller has their knowledge on the clothes they specialize in. I can’t tell ya a thing about pucci except my opinion on the design, color, silhouette. And for me, not my thing. I personally don’t like it so I don’t think it’s worth $500. You may be new to my channel but I always mention that I don’t know fashion history especially if I come across vintage.
