I don’t understand what kind of areas people live in where they have stores with so many nice dolls??!? In my neighborhood the thrift stores never have more than a handful of naked, very well played with or broken dolls scattered among other broken or undesired toys.

Try checking to see if you have a Savers or a thrift store from the Savers chain in your area. The Goodwills close to me never have anything so the only place I can find a good amount of dolls is this thrift store which is from the Savers chain.

I almost always pick them up. I love diversity in my collection, especially because growing up in Brazil in the 80s they only had blonde dolls and I am a brunette with tan skin. So I was super excited to discover dolls of other skin tones when my family moved to the U.S.
