Thrift with Us!! We hit up the Goodwill Bins along with 4 Goodwills

I was planning on finishing up my Thrift to Treasure video for today and then Caitlan asked me to go thrifting with her...I couldn't pass up the mother/daughter bonding time and those words were music to my ears!! I love to hear that she wants to go thrifting and she now considers herself a "Bins Girl"!!

I've never had much luck at the Bins. Usually just a lot of broken items at ours.

It’s definitely a hit and miss at any Bins I think. Some days are better than others for sure.

I find that the church or hospice or organization thrift stores are a lot better than goodwill. The prices at goodwill have gotten really high. St vincent DePaul is also more reasonably priced than goodwill.

I think it depends on where you live. A lot of my viewers say that all of the thrift stores have raised their prices. 🤷‍♀️

I have a hand painted bird picture done on the front of a cabinet door. Just like the one you found. The artist added three fun knobs on the bottom, all very colorful and fun! Hanging on my wall! I love it!

I know you said you felt your Goodwill shelves were bare, but MY local Goodwill shelves have major gaps with nothing. It's weird because I'm always seeing lines of vehicles dropping off donations, so I don't know why our store is so empty! Fun shopping with you...

Your daughter is so pretty, y’all look more like sisters. I love to go out with my daughter. She lives far away now, actually closer to you. We FaceTime a lot! My Goodwill bins is much smaller, not nearly as many bins but I love to go there. I don’t go often and I always wear gloves! My regular Goddwill had really sparse shelves the first couple of weeks in January and they went to 2 colors, one 50 % off and the other 75% off. I haven’t been super impressed because what I want is usually not on sale. I did find a Hobby Lobby $99.99 winter painting for $10.99 ( it was unmarked and the worker put that price on it for me -Score!) The shelves are fuller now.

There are a lot of areas that don’t have the Goodwill Bins. I wish there were because it would keep a lot more things from ending up in the landfill.

Goodwill is messing up what they’ve had for years to be good. they’ve jacked up the price have less things and less unique things of quality. it seems our free donation items have turned into money, making for them not really helping the public as much as before.

The later part of the week is tough at Goodwills! A lot of buyers go earlier in the week and clear out the sale items. THEN, the stores start pulling the items with the colored tags of the week. It's best to go earlier in the week I think

I passed up a lot of things because it either wasn’t quite what I was looking for or it was too expensive. I have plenty of time to find more letters before next Christmas. 😊

How fun to go thrifting with your daughter. Shes a doll. I have never been to a good will bins thrifting store. I dont drive anymore so I only get to thrift stores when my daughter has a day off. I do have a thrift store at my senior center and believe me I've bought so many things at a price you wouldnt imagine. All things are $1 and we had a .50¢ sale recently. I got Holiday things for all 3 major Holidays. Check your local senior center. They are usually open to the public too. Mine is you did score on clothes and your daughter too. So many baskets. TYFS

I'm in Central Arizona in the mountain area and there's three goodwills in our area. Here's what I've noticed and this goes for the other thrift stores as well, I'm not seeing any furniture, it's like it all disappeared... The shelves are definitely empty and one of the ones I went to the other ones were very expensive. Some of the prices are putting on stuff is outrageous so I don't know it's going on with this free donations at Goodwill gifts and why there's no furniture or if they're funneling it somewhere else somebody please let me know.

I hsve noticed that too! We have Idaho Youth Ranch thrift stores her in Idaho that are more reasonable, and the profit stays in state so I go there more often.

I’m not really sure what is happening with the pricing. I think it’s a hit and miss on the furniture in different areas. If you are looking for furniture maybe try a Habitat for Humanity Restore if you have one near you, Facebook Marketplace or yard/estate sales.

I love the fact that the kids these days, for the most part, aren’t ashamed to shop at thrift stores. I think that with the high prices of clothing in retail stores it is making them realize that they can get the same quality for a more affordable price at a thrift store. It’s a great way of thinking for them as they get older. 😊
