Thank goodness for bubblewrap and leftover rolls. I use them a lot for porcelain but I either tissue them or bubble them before sliding them in there. Love your videos! You're great company and love your extra tips.

The craziest thing I've shipped is a large piece of 3d paper artwork in a lucite box. Used a large TV Box from home depot and it came with corner protectors. Worth the $30. Had that built into the shipping cost already. Shipped from Chicago to Oregon

I hear it is expensive to buy packing material...I was shocked at how expensive. I would go to recycle bins or trash bins behind big stores. You can find boxes and bubble wrap...all kinds of good clean materials...And help the planet while you're saving money...it's a win-win.

Hi Judy! There are flat rate shipping boxes that are a fixed fee. They can be a lot more expensive depending on the weight of your item. I almost always use priority rate boxes because which you'll use if your item weighs over a pound.

I happen to be very good at packing. I used to work at a grocery store when I was 16, 17 years old and I can pack a mean bag, just the right weight (half heavy half light) and square at the bottom, round at top, ect. Also for the last 6 years I packed large equipment going out to be repaired for a parking equipment company. Believe it or not this was part of a Administrative Assistants job, what the heck. But watching you and a few more fav's do packing I've learned so much about breakables and what makes customers happy, FRESHBLOOMINCLOTHING also! I never use FedEx. You need to make the box as small as possible, yet still protect the art. Not only does the weight of the box matter, the dimensions do too as far as the expense. Shipping large pieces of art is expensive but there are ways to make it a bit more affordable.

Might put tissue papers around it first. I had to ship a bird, it was a Woodcock and they have like a 6 inch long thinner than a pencil beak. And that’s what I did and I had to send it to California and it worked great.

Especially now that prices have increased again. Is this an issue for you? I looked at your store and this video. Do you set a fixed priced for items you sell. I do calculated shipping but sometimes people message me and say that the shipping is $20. I am on the West coast north of Seattle and almost always ship to the East coast or California. Before you are really familiar with box sizes and weights I would place the item on the scale and lay a box on top to get a general weight. Eventually you get a good idea and can guesstimate.

One question: so if you weren't sure which box you were going to use yet (like with the pheasants), what did you put on your listing for the shipping option? This is my biggest problem, figuring out what to put for shipping when I'm creating the listing. Right now, if I know is that it is a little over 1 pound, I just put 2 lbs (or 3 or 4) and priority mail for the first option and Parcel select for the second. I think my shipping is showing much too high to my buyers!

You can put in the exact measurements and weight when you are listing. If something is 1 pound, 4 ounces and you put 2 pounds in it will be a much higher shipping weight. Keep your scale next to you whole you're listing so you can put in the exact weight.
