Thrifting Days & Tole Trays!

Thrift with me at two local thrift stores! When we get home, I'll show you my haul including a large assortment of Franciscan Desert Rose dinnerware from four different time periods. We'll also check out my downsized tole tray collection.

Hi Kris, nice little haul, and I really like the Desert Rose pattern bowls. Also, I love the little lessons and bits of interesting information you teach us about a wide variety of subjects! Nice history of Tolle trays and generally tolle information. I always learn a bit of something from you! Looking forward to video on Meetinghouse....lol. While I was there, I wanted to test an old turntable, well to make a long story short, one of the very nice ladies took me inside the Woodruff home, built in 1700s ( I think, 1771), and I got a little tour. Well, you know I like Primitive decor, and boy was that fun! Also, the grounds were beautiful. Anyway, cant wait to see the haul from that awesome tag sale. Deb

LOVE LOVE LOVE the tole tray collection!! I have never seen one with blue and white and also that chicken one! Wow so unique ❤ And I also really like the ones in the guest bedroom and the ones in the bookshelves….I guess I love them all 😂😂😂 Severe case of tole tray envy going on right now 😂😂

I have a lovely tole lamp that I found in a thrift store around $8.99. It is a beautiful green metal. And the shade is a matching green metal. ❤❤❤ Your collection is gorgeous 😊

I love your toleware trays. They are not easy to find in the wild where I live, but maybe one day. And the little blue and white plate with the perforations is gorgeous and looks very happy where you placed it. I also am one who sometimes buys a piece because it just needs a home😀

How do you decide whether or not to buy any artwork? Is it the size, condition, price?

Good question - I guess it depends on the size, yes, but also the image and whether or not it depicts something that speaks to me. I generally try to pick up things that I could envision in my own home, as well - versatile pieces that could be placed in many different rooms. Do you sell artwork? If so, what do you look for? I feel like I'm missing something....

@@WorthingtonHome No, I’m not a seller, only a buyer. I would have purchased the needlepoint because I’ve been doing , knitting, crocheting, and making quilts for years. I pick up well done pieces of needlepoint for myself when I see it.

How do you hang your trays?!?

It depends on the tray. Ideally, if there are handles or some kind of cut-out in the design, I just tie a piece of floral wire around it and I'm good to go. If not, I usually look for a very large plate/tray holder. Just a warning - if they don't have plastic coating on the metal part that touches the tray, it can cause some damage to the paint. I've never done this, but I think there are stick-on (adhesive) hangers that you can buy and pop on the back of the tray - I just don't know if they hold over time. Good luck! They look beautiful when they displayed together on a wall, in my opinion.
