I think what Julie meant by "let the kids play with" was simply that it's ok if they "handle" it. The kids aren't going to play with these like they would doll houses or fire trucks, but they will relate to the pieces of the nativity when they're listening to the story. And as the adult reads, it'll be ok when they puck up the baby Jesus or a Wiseman without giving Julie a heart attack. She didn't ruin anything, so retract the claws and stop snarling (I can't believe how mean people are now a days). Her grandchildren know her style, and they love it. They'll remember all the wonderful things Grandma made and did for them for the rest of their lives.

I think it looked better the original way with color. Much easier to make out who they were.

That is something I was worried about losing but in person you can tell better than the camera is showing.

I personally would've left the nativity the way it was, that way the children could see the faces and who they are supposed to be. I love the concept of them being able to see it when you tell the Christmas story though.

The nativity set looks good, but it would have been hard for me to paint over all those sweet details. Anyway, Merry Christmas. I love nativity sets, I have several, too.

I agree with some of the comments. Childten love color. I think you get too much into everyting matching your decor If your grandchildren played with it before they must have liked it There was so much nice detail. Now it is a decor piece

I thought the colours on the nativity were very primitive colours. That rusty red and sagey green are solid primitive. Children like colourful toys. Painting them white is mistake. 😮

The nativity set turned out so pretty. I found one thrifting not too long ago, it was all ceramic and painted the wildest colors plus baby Jesus was gone. I knew I could paint it. But left it there. Hi Julie, I’m enjoying your channel in OKC. Think it’s wonderful you thrifted the nativity with the grands in mind…mine would enjoy it too! Here’s a suggestion for what it’s worth…when I use Waverly antiquing wax on a project that has “grooves” that I want to be darker, I put a little water in the wax to thin it. It runs into the cracks better and I wipe off excess. If I need it darker I just do it again. Might give it a try. Thanks for the work you put into these videos. You brighten my day!
@conniemalone89395 күн бұрын
I myself think the kids would have much preferred it with the Color paint! That white or black or brown is dull and no interest to the kiddos! Everything don’t have to match your decor! Just my Opine! Yeah Girl I think u did mess it up! The kids r only gonna see blocks of white wood?????

No different than Montessori, minimalist type of toys/wooden blocks. Some kids gravitate towards color, for some kids it’s too overstimulating. Julie I think your meaning and motive for the nativity set for your grand babies is all that matters. Not the colors. Happy holidays! ❤

Julie I love your channel and everything about it, but I have recently had a thought that struck me. People are using words : " Thriftmas, Vlogmas etc" but should we really? I am a Christian as you and your family and if we think about it , the word Christmas comes from two words : Christ and Mass ( holy Mass). So adding " mas" to trivia words like thrifting or vloging or so , it does seem wrong, doesn't it? There is no holiness or mass here. And I think we should stop using them "new" words on purpose as Christians and replace them with something else. What do you think? 💝
