One of the most common things people ask me on the internet is "why are you going bald?" It's become something that I'm extremely self conscious about so I decided I would start trying out products that claim to grow hair... first up, a cult classic: Nioxin!╭( ・ㅂ・)و ̑̑ ˂ᵒ͜͡ᵏᵎ⁾✩

I have thought for the last couple videos that your hair has looked thicker and shinier before this video came out if that counts for anything. But to be honest, I've always thought you were beautiful and only noticed your hair thinning when you mentioned it. I just thought you had fine hair. I pay more attention to your bubbly personality and the intelligent/dignified way you present yourself.

I too am losing my hair-due to hormone issues and anemia. It’s been very difficult. I have lost 3/4 of my hair. I had very thick hair , so it’s not as noticeable to some. But my now very thin and fine hair is just so different from the long thick locks that I used to have. It’s harder for women to lose their hair, in my opinion, because it’s not the accepted norm. Men look great bald. Not every woman can carry that look. Not every woman can afford a $400 wig either. Thank you for addressing this issue. You Rock!! Many blessings.

Emerald Dawn do you get any meds for the hormonal imbalance? I have the same issue, but i take something called androkur, it gets rid of excess testosterone and i dont think its very noticeable on me anymore. Definitely has stopped the thinning and hairs are starting to grow back

Lesieva I do take synthroid for thyroid/ hormones. I have a brain tumor on my pituitary gland, which is what controls hormone production. I will ask my doctor about the medication you mentioned. Im always looking for something to help the situation. My hormones are all over the place so finding something that would help would be a godsend! I’ve incorporated better foods/nutrition and vitamins into my diet. The Hair, Skin, and nails vitamin combo has helped with the strength of my hair, but not so much thickness. I also use rosemary essential oil in all my hair products. I’ve stopped using a lot of hair products, especially hair spray. I wash my hair twice a week and use all natural products. It’s helped. If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear! Thank you. Blessings

Honestly...I have used Nioxen and really lived the way it felt. But, I did not see any difference. I purchased the generic brand of Rogain. The dermatologist said it's even ok to use mens as its stronger. However, you have to continue using to maintain the growth. Also, PLEASE disregard all the negative comments. My hair has been thinning for years. Seriously for over 10 years. You can see my scalp at my crown. It is embarrassing and makes me super insecure. I have been tested for everything and they just can not find out why. I usually wear my hair pulled up in a clip on top of my head to try and hide it. I have tried hair fibers, biotin, and tons of other things. I am going to go see a hair loss specialist soon, and possibly get a "topper" to wear when I am going out for something special. I can definitely see a difference in your before and after pics, it makes me want to go out and buy the stuff and try it!! I hate that people are teasing you or making fun of you, but I know you you feel. Keep your head up!!!

I dont usually comment on videos, BUT I have been using Nioxin for about three-five months now and i gotta say my hair feels healthier, if i run my hand through my scalp in the shower i notice SIGNIFICANTLY less hair loss. Also washing your hair with cooler (cold) water supposedly helps the hair follicles close up. I love your videos, people suck but you keep being you! Your hair does in fact look GREAT! 😊

Cassie, Have you had your thyroid checked lately? Not just the basic thyroid ck up test, but more in-depth into the T3 & T4 levels. My basic thyroid test shows me as borderline having hypothyroidism (low thyroid). When the docs test my T3 & T4. It shows I'm in fact low. It caused weight gain, fatigue, & tons of hair loss. Since I'm on medication. My hair is thickening back up. I feel better & well losing the weight is slow. Anyway just wondering if you've cked yours. Ive heard good things about Nioxin.

Your weight? Geeze, does this entire friggen world have to be a size 5-you are a normal looking human being. Haven't even finished watching your video, but if you have a Sally's beauty by you they sell Nutriox which I have used for years. It is the same thing. I also take 10000 milligrams of Biotin a day. It keeps your hair from falling out which in turns gives you more hair. It is truly good stuff.

I have very fine thinning hair too. I am a Hair Stylist and am familiar with Nioxin. I know it is expensive so that is one draw back that keeps me from using it. The Idea is to increase the blood flow to your scalp. When you increase the blood flow to your scalp the theary is that it feeds your papilla (where your hair originates in the base of your folical) When you feed your papilla with more blood flow it should increase your hair growth and hair stength. So the number 1 best thing you can do is to brush your scalp with a paddle brush with balls on the tips of the brissles morning and night till your scalp is pink from increased blood flow. I do this and it has at best stopped my hair from thinning more. Hope this helps. Lots of Love and Kindness.

Update 7/18/19: Correction! It was the Nixoin 5 System. I see definite improvement. My long, thick beautiful hair began falling out in 2014 slowly then by 2018 and 2019 you could drive a Buick through the part in my hair. Of course tears and more tears. Research. A bestie friend sent me Nioxin 3 system but I only used the shampoo. I wash my hair on average twice a week since I’ve been injured and had two recent back surgeries. So using Nioxin shampoo for about five months and washing my hair on average twice a week, now, my hair hardly has any ‘hair fall’. My hair looks fuller and is fuller. It has to be the Nioxin shampoo. I’m almost out and I’m gonna order some more.

Yes, I could tell a difference. I never noticed your hair thinking before. You’re so beautiful and your eyes are stunning. I noticed these past few years that the ladies in my family are going through thinning hair. Ive tried Nioxin and it didn’t work on me. Last month I went to my dermatologist and he has me on Rogaine, Biotin vitamins, Spironolactone. I actually bought the men’s Kirkland brand rogaine from Costco for 44.99 for a 6 month supply. It’s a mouse. I apply it once a day on my noticeable areas. I hope it works. Thank you for your courage and helping people like myself. I wish there were more videos like this.

Cassie! Try Viviscal. I’m on my second box and I’m amazed at how much my hair has thickened, how much less it sheds on wash days and how much faster it’s growing. The crazy part is I forget to take it a lot and it’s still making a huge difference even with my irregular usage. I will continue to buy and use this product over Nioxin. Another thing that has made a HUGE impact was that I stopped washing my hair everyday. Now I wear a shower cap when I shower and only wash my hair every 3 to 4 days. My hair was as thin as yours, i know exactly how you feel. Ps.... I’ve had every blood test under the sun trying to find the cause with no answers.

Thrift Thick DISCLAIMER - this was WAY longer than anticipated but I felt there'd be questions if I didn't explain it all...like why were you sweating so much etc. I was lucky. I had ACTUAL Pantene pro v commercial hair my whole life. Random strangers, not often but it did happen, would come up behind me & touch my hair exclaiming how thick and beautiful it was. Every time I'd go to the salon the stylist would remark on how thick and healthy it was, too. My hair was like that for 35 years then it did a 180. For 15 years I've been progressively getting sicker. My very first symptom was random bouts of sweating regardless of temperature. Needless to say, I was dismissed at the doctors office since it wasn't life threatening & they had no clue what was causing it. Every 4-5 months or so, a new symptom would appear and never go away to the point that I had to stop working in 4/2016. By 2016 I had seen 20+ doctors from endocrinologists to cardiologists, even a rheumatologist couldn't figure it out. I had over 300 tests run with + no results. I went from just a little sweating 15 years ago to: - Profuse sweating with ANY exertion even just walking or sitting up - Panic attacks from me focusing on my weird physical symptoms - Severe headaches increasing in frequency - Muscle weakness and joint pain - High blood pressure & heart rate - Tachycardia with any exertion - Balance or clumsiness issues but they're very mild and not often - Severe nerve pain - Extreme fatigue...like if I got out for 2 hours to run errands, I crash when I get home for 4-5 hours - Numbness & tingling in my hands - Constantly feeling like I have a flu - Heat AND cold intolerance - Shortness of breath walking, talking too much, and climbing steps....I can't run but that'd do it too ANNNNNNNND - HAIR LOSS. I lose so much hair, that if I don't brush it 2x a day, and I'm so exhausted I rarely do, it DREADS from the fallout. Imagine if you put your hair in a bun, took out the bun, and all your hair matted together. Then , because I have no energy, I have to put off brushing it out until I do have the energy which makes it 100x worse and causes more hair loss. It's a vicious cycle. My hair is literally HALF its thickness from 2/3 years ago before it started falling out. It also looks frizzy, dead and lifeless. It feels like it's destroyed from heat & dyeing...none of which has touched my hair in over 5 years. The hair loss delayed my diagnosis, along with weight gain. Because I'm a woman, multiple doctors kept checking my perfectly functioning thyroid...you know weight gain, tired, hair loss can be hypothyroid. BUT you don't get hot & sweat profusely with hypothyroid, that's HYPERthyroid and it's impossible to have both. Turns out the 70lb weight gain was caused by ovarian cancer (diagnosed by a fluke cat scan, not related to symptoms & cured without treatment, just surgery!) but the hair loss??? *PROFUSE SWEATING CAUSES HAIR LOSS* That's right, just sweating is why I'm losing my locks. Apparently it interferes with the blood flow & follicles in your scalp...similar to wearing a baseball cap all the time. No doctor told me this or suggested it could be from sweating, until I asked. So the only way to stop my hair loss was to stop the sweating. And to do that, I needed to find out what was wrong with me. NEVER let a doctor tell you that looking up your symptoms online is a bad idea! I mean, YES, if you're healthy. But if you've been sick for months or years with no answers GET ONLINE. I found out what was wrong with me in DAYS and one test has already confirmed that I was right. Now it's about determining what subtype I have... I have Dysautonomia. It's when your entire autonomic (aka AUTOMATIC) nervous system, which controls everything your body does automatically, FAILS or MALFUNCTIONS. All the things you take for granted because you don't need to think about them. Just imagine how disabling it would be to not be able to breathe right, or if your body can't digest food right so you lack essential nutrients. Or how bad you can feel with high or low blood pressure. NOW imagine ALL OF THOSE and more going wrong at that same time. That's what my life has been like for at least 4 years when all my symptoms became apparent. The docs believe my subtype is Hyperadergenic POTS or postural Orthostatic Tachycarda Syndrome or Autonomic Failure. Either way, it took 15 years and me finally going online to get a diagnosis. There is no cure but it is manageable with meds, therapy, lifestyle changes and time. I'm in bed now, unless I have somewhere I have to be. This disease has stolen my "best years" (30-40 yrs old) and I'm pissed off because it didn't have to be this way. If doctors were trained to recognize the symptoms, i may be fine right now. There's no cure because there's barely any research, maybe if people were diagnosed right away, it might be reversible who knows! So I wanted to get my story out there to make people aware of this AND that sweating too much on your head causes significant hair loss. I know, this comment is a book lol! If you read all of this, thank you.💙 Oh and the dummies at the dyasutonomia foundation or institute thought it'd be a fantastic idea to choose OCTOBER as Dysautonomia awareness. 🙄 Our unheard of crippling disease is competing with breast cancer "October is breast cancer awareness month". I think that alone is an obstacle in bringing awareness.

Professionally speaking nioxin does help more with a sense of volume. It cleans your scalp and keeps follicles clear of debris. I also deal with very thin hair at age 30. Rogain was a life saver but I hated the thought of having to use it everyday. Honestly, prenatal vitamins are a huge help. Toppik is also a great moment of relief. But honestly, our hair means so much to us and it’s so weird that hair has so much control over our perception of ourselves but it really is only hair. Life in general takes a toll on our body. You look great and I admire you for keep on keeping on. Lol. Love yourself and do what makes you happy. Good luck on your journey.

Also. It’s a difference in the shampoo just be careful in using it too often. If your scalp starts to itch or dry flakes start than stop and moisten your scalp. Dry scalp will cause loss of hair too.

From a Medical point of view I can recommend you to do a full analysis with your doctor of choice and check for anemia that it is an important cause for hair loss or hormonal disorders, if you correct the base problem you may solve your hair issue. In our modern days we often don’t get or absorbe the enough quantities of vitamins and other important nutrients that promote the healthy growth of both hair and nails (along side many organic functions) and food supplements for Vitamin B12, Collagen and even Folic Acid help a lot to improve hair and nail growth, but again, check with a doctor of your trust and rule out any disorders or diseases that may be the cause of your hair loss. Another cause may be genetic, if your mom and dad suffered from hair loss then even though it is not common that women lose hair than you will likely have the genetic information to do it. If your mom doesn’t have important hair loss than it is highly unlikely that the origin problem is genetic and it could have its basis in a nutritional deficiency or the rather unpleasant option of a disease or disorder. Having that in mind YOU my dear are beautiful just the way you are and please don’t let people bring you down because of this. You are pretty, you are special, you deserve to feel good and love yourself always 💗🙌🏻 I hope could help you in some way and remember to smile and look today in the mirror and see the beautiful person I and everyone of your KZbin community friends see too! Have a great day! 💕

Absolutely worked! I’ve had fine hair my entire life - was the one consistent go-to theme that anybody who wanted to pick on me at school would rly hammer home. I would often be told I was going bald and I’ve spent my entire adult life worrying abt it (and having friends and family reassure me that I’m just imagining it) but the thing IS with your* hair, a) I honestly didn’t even notice your hair to be “thin” when I clicked on this video and was expecting a bald guy to be brought in! So there’s that! But b) as ppl pointed out, the after shots are DEFINITELY thicker and fuller! It’s hard when we have this complex bc we always notice the bad but never the good. I’m also taking B vitamins, sao Palermo supplements and folic acid... I just saved up enough money to get hair extensions and I couldn’t be happier! And even tho I’m receding and thinning up top (I think I still don’t know for sure lol), the extensions compensate for this! And I can still use topical treatments/can start rogaine if I feel the need and apparently that’s fine too! So lots of things out there if u want more results! Definitely not a death sentence (as I once thought) lots of love hope ur happy abt ur hair after hearing some honest feedback! Hi lovely, have you been checked for PCOS? Thinning hair and trouble losing weight/gaining weight etc are two of the symptoms that I have too. Not cool...not nice, but sometimes it’s nice to know the whys :) in any case, you are beautiful, educated and articulate...don’t let others- or even yourself let you think otherwise xxx

Hi ladies a good tip for noticing if you might have PCOS is the darkening of your skin and abnormal facial hair. Weight is also a big flag but weight can lead to a lot of other issues! I apparently have had PCOS since I was in 8th grade... but just got diagnosed after this summer

Thank you for posting this Cassie. As a fellow woman who has always had fine hair ( and dealing with the joy of thinning hair 😖) I really appreciated this video. I understand how big of a blow it is to someone’s self confidence and for someone like me who was considering products like Nioxin it is important as far as deciding what products to use and what to invest my money in. I’d be very interested to see you continue your hair journey; I notice your hair looked healthier in the after shot you included, but like you I’m more critical than I should be when looking for results. Thank you again, love ya and keep up the good work. You’re awesome no matter what 😊

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it below before but there is a brand called Kerastase that makes treatments for treating hair loss and thinning hair. I used to do marketing for a hair salon and they would sell it to women who both experience hair loss and hair loss due to pregnancy. (so it is completely normal for women to lose their hair, i was shocked to find out that it happens to pregnant women and was surprised people don't talk about it given that theres nothing wrong with it.) Kerastase specifique and Densifique. Hope that helps!

I used Nioxin about a decade ago after losing so much hair through a breakdown, and I really felt it worked. I'm back onto again now (yes another breakdown, of many), but I don't feel I'm seeing what I did last time. I'm over weight as well and my hair falls out in globs every single day. I'm so thin and balding on the top. I to have been searching to find a hair growth system that works. Your not alone with this. It takes a lot of nerve to even discuss this as a women on social media. Coodles to you for doing so. Your channel helps so much especially with the oily skin make up. Rogaine will stop you from losing any more hair. So absolutely use that daily for the rest of your life. I think your hair does look fuller since using Nioxin but your hair color is different in the before and after so that may change how we perceive the hair fullness. Rogaine is a serum but maybe you can use it at night. Your hair looks good and I don’t think it looks like you are going bald at all. But Rogaine is a good thing to do so you don’t lose any more hair.

I don't understand why or how people can be so negative and ugly. I used to have crazy thick hair and I have noticed it thinning as of late. To the casual observer it isn't that noticeable, but I notice and it is a frightening thought. There are other women in my family who suffer like you and it saddens me that people are so shallow that they feel it is acceptable to say hurtful things about it. Chin up, you are beautiful!

Cassie, I can see a significant difference in the side by side videos. The fact that you have been using the products for less than a year and have seen so much improvement is amazing. I by no means am a hair expert, but I do know that hair grows in 3 different stages, which may explain why you aren't seeing a ton of new hairs coming in. The new growth is going to be more sporadic and not all come in at the same time in the same places. I really think you should give it at least a year and then reevalute if the results were worth the cost for you. Just know you are gorgeous before and after you started using Nioxon.

@Thrift Thick I can see a lot of new hair in your before and after clips, on the bottom right of the screens where your part begins. My sister lost most of her hair after the birth of her second baby almost 15 years ago. I would buy her every product I could think of to help her and it only made her get pissed off and hate me. My "problem-solving" personality prevented me from seeing that the attention to the problem was hurting her. When someone brings your faults to your attention I like to say "Well, everyone has something, do you want to share yours?"

Cassie, I went through EXACTLY what you’re going through with your hair. Mine is fine, thin and curly. I started a medication for heartburn which caused a vitamin deficiency, which makes sense in hindsight, but I didn’t know at the time. I started taking “stress vitamins” which turned out to be B vitamins and four months later when I was at the hair dresser, we discovered an all new layer of hair. It was a terrible layer to grow out, but I treasure every strand. I heard you mention B vitamins, not sure if you’ve tried them. You have to stay with the vitamins to see results (consistency). Anyway, love your honesty and videos. All the best for 2018.

Hi Cassie. I suffer from hair loss as well. Over the years I feel the most effective way of controlling it is to control the oil. I wash my hair every morning without conditioning near my scalp. It could be because your diet (vegetarian/vegan). When I was vegan myself I noticed that my hair started to fall out and when I went to a hairdresser she noticed that I had something drastic happen to my hair and tried desperately to figure out the reason. This was my turning point - I decided to leave the vegan diet. I also started to take supplements and my hair has gone back to normal. I think the supplements helped me a lot. And most of the time the problem comes from inside out and no matter what products you use outside, the problem doesn't go away unless you change something in the diet.

I have thinning hair due to over processing & a very stressful situation I experienced in June of last year. It takes 4 months for your hair to thin and fall out after a stressful situation. I take double the biotin. Thanks from Natrol. I think I bought it at Costco. It supports healthy hair skin and nails. I do a coconut organic cold pressed oil treatment once a week. It’s even 2 months and my hair is much thicker and bald spots starting to fill in now. For the full affect it will take me six months to a year but it’s well worth it to be consistent with it. Worth a try? It’s working for me but everyone’s different. It got to the point where even the hair on my legs wasn’t growing for several months and now it’s growing out every week where I have to shave. I have heard a lot about the your treatment and what I read and learned from a salon professionals that it didn’t work too well but if it’s working for you that’s awesome. No one should ever tease for hair loss and never say never because they never know when it will happen to them. Hugs.

I am new subscriber but have been a long time watcher. Thank you for sharing you hair loss. I myself have been deal with massive hair loss issues since i was a young girl. Being on and off so many different medications for various illness my body likes to carry, it has really taken a lot away from my hair. I am on the verge of just cutting it short now and buying wigs. I tried a hair piece called "Evolve" for about 2 years and it was just ok. I think because I don't really style my hair much, I really got annoyed by the price tag of the piece (Before I stopped wearing it, new piece would have been $2200; yearly, started at $1000 for first piece, second piece was $1500. for the new piece + maintenance was about $200 every 4-6 weeks). It was a luxury I could no longer afford. After I stopped wearing it, I just dealt with my thin/no hair and would spray hair fibers on the bare spots. NOW since I have had the stroke, on crohns medication and other medication, my hair is so very thing! Even if I wear it down and tease it to the heavens and use the fibers, you still see scalp. I am 37 and I am just ok with my stupid head of hair. I really need to just get the courage to cut it short and buy the wigs but every time I think about it, I get sad. I get so jealous of people who have luscious and thick hair. My own family has better looking hair than me! I am the bastard child of the family ;) Besides my dad, who is suffering with Agent Orange side effects, NO ONE else in my fam has nearly as many issues as me and boy do they let me know ;) I am out of my hair fibers, so will need to go buy more, but man, it is annoying! I have tried a lot of stuff to help kick start the hair growth and nothing has really worked for me, not even Nioxin, which actually worked against me (my hair stylist still can't figure it out either!) I hope this blurby mess makes sense =) Anyway, keep up the good work!

My daughter had a really tough health battle for 8 months and had two open heart surgeries in that time frame. She lost weight drastically due to bacterial infections in her blood which caused constant vomiting. She lost ¾ of her hair, she felt like a nicer patient. I came across Nioxin and put her on it well it worked way better than I thought it would. Her hair grew back thicker and curlier than it was before she got sick. And I can see a massive difference with your hair. It’s sad that you can’t see that we see. Hope you have found something that you feel is working better. Maybe you needed a different number. My daughter was on system 4 and I’ve started using number 6.

There is a huge difference between the before and after pics I think (and I've bad eyesight). Yes I have balding hair too. Over the past few months my hair has gone from unmanageable volume (naturally curly) to barely there strands. Thankfully the curls cover the bald spots - but I don't know how long they're there as they were hiding them from me too. Only realised how bad they were two weeks ago when I started my curly hair journey. I'm almost 50 and menopausal and with it comes the baldness. BTW - the sunscreen in your hair product - not only prevents damage to hair itself but sun damage to hair causes premature greying!
