VIZIO 47" TV No Backlight (SMD LED Replacement - Video#2)

In this second of three video series on the 47" Vizio TV Backlight repair we bench test and replace the SMD LED's that are bad on the strips. You may find this handy if you want to save money on the backlight repair. If the TV is used a lot and worth spending the extra money on the repair, you may want to replace all the LED strips with new ones instead. Hope you find this video helpful and Thanks for watching!

Also if you don't have a power supply you can use a 9 volt battery I think the voltage of my strip was 27 volts so I used 3 9 volt batteries connected to each other with positive and negative to test whole strip

Just remember it's not a good idea to use a supply that is not current limited with LEDs. As long as you know it's just the right voltage for your exact strip to barely fire the LEDs, but not too much to over drive them. Thanks for sharing.

What led smd would you recommend to replace in a vizio D50U-D1 or just a roundabout area in them.. thanks greatly for ya time bro

Sorry, I have not worked on this model to say for sure. I do know shopjimmy.com has the complete backlight strips for $49 for this model in stock at this time. I would typically have to repair my first TV like this with strips and once I get it working you can get a voltage reading across the LEDs while working at 100% brightness and then with the physical measurement get a better idea of which LED the strip is using! Can I use any similar-sized SMD LED for the replacement ? because I have a flashlight that has LEDs about 60 of them the same amount I need for my TV if I just changed them all one by one I don't mind taking the time to do it I just don't want to do it if maybe the ones in the flashlight are too bright?? Is that possible or if the SMD LED fits on the pads then it should be good to go pretty universal or ??

I believe the main thing is the polarity is the same so they would even work at all. I also would wonder about the color of them and brightness as you mentioned. I can't say for sure, I personally would hate to take all that time to swap them out and they are different.
