I think they should only work on one stage at a time before they get to ambitious and end up not being able to make even the 3D multicellular stage

I believe they said they just want to make a full skeleton. I figure they'll add something to Industrial and build a very basic Space and then that's it. They also mentioned that they only shift full focus to another stage after each major release - 1.X.X would mean Microbe Stage is totally done, and they're moving to Multicellular, for instance.

They want to make a very basic prototype for all of the later stages but they won't work on them beyond adding these barebones prototypes until the earlyer stages are finished.

From a product perspective, it makes total sense, cause you will have something "playable" close to the experience they are trying to sell. However, from a developer pov, it's common practice to have the "draft" of the system well defined before you actually implement the individual parts, as it guarantees that no major integration between the parts will be overlooked.

Afaik the dev's (understandable) point is, that while you can survive very well as some kind of plant in the microbial/multicellular phases, you can't get out of there, since plants aren't effective enough at converting compounds to energy to be able to sustain a brain/gain sentience.

Brains require advanced cell specialization, which, if accomplished, basically just makes you an animal. This means that full plants cannot reach the awake stage. Instead, organisms made of hybrid cells would be necessary, an idea that is still in existence in their old wiki. It talks about how animals could have leaves attached. This means that the idea is still present as well.

That means you could start as a plant cell, and then become a full-on plant, but eventually you will have to become at least a hybrid to reach the awake stage.

bro this game is never gonna be finished, they keep procrastinating on the multicellular stage by making prototypes of stuff that won't be in the game in over a decade at this rate

Game development is very good if you have a framework and you simply update individual features. It is difficult to finish a game when you don’t know where to start in certain areas. Someone probably made this so that when the time comes, game development does not stop because almost everyone says “I don’t know where to start”. If one person makes a prototype, game development will be continuous and people will probably not procrastinate by continuing to work on earlier stages.

I think this was a really bad step forward. I don't know why they think this is such an easy thing. They should work on adding a new features like axoneme, centriole, etc. Adding multiplayer so the game is much more fun, instead of these bubbles acting like humans in a micromolecular world. Getting a cell out of the water in this stage of development is pointless. I just helped you on a Weblate tho.

i need to inform you of something.... the reason this is bad is because they arent actually working on these levels yet, they only made them so people dont lose all hype because they think its just cell stage so far, this is only because people would just quit immediantly after beating cellular stage if there wasnt anythign to test out

They are just barebones prototype stages for the players to understand how the earlier stages would work, i assume they're gonna finish microbe stage first, then multicellular stage and so on

This is what pre-pre-pre alpha is. it is very much incomplete and won't be close to it for a while.
