Long time engine builder here. Excellent job at a young age. On these high end engine builds about the only pro tips I can offer is to use dlc coating on stuff like the cam lobes. On the small-end bushings we use Beryllium copper (because of its high-rpm reliability), while the surfaces of the big-ends are again treated with DLC. On the piston skirts we use Ober coating (Teflon and Molybdenum base) and nickel-phosphorous plating for the piston-pin clip-groove. Something else I would advise is to get a torque wrench calibrator and calibrate your torque wrenches before any job. We also cryo treat some components, including the turbo charger. Finally we also weigh the pistons and con rods try to make sure all the pistons weigh the same and con rods weigh the same etc and it makes a difference for a smoother engine. Oh 1 last thing, they make oil squirters with ball check valves that close off at low rpm. The reason for that is to avoid oil pressure loss at low rpm or when the engine is idling. Nonetheless you did an excellent job and are way ahead of me when I was your age. By the way I learned most of these things building race motorcycle engines as well as some other tricks of the trade while working for Honda

I'm studying mechanical engineering and I specifically looked for a real time 2jz build to make sure I don't have any gaps in my knowledge and this was perfect. This was exactly what I searched for. And honestly: if you kinda know what's up it's not that hard anymore especially if it's on a standalone ECU and you don't have to swap stuff around and figure out solutions to problems that don't exist with a standalone. It's the next level after building a pc, because like this you don't just combine the components but you also assemble the components themselves here.

I’m 65! When I was a young man back in the 70’s & building engines the Cam Shaft was known as the “Hot Rod” in my day you either built the cams up by wielding on plugs & grinding them down or you took a grinder to a cam to grind it down depending on how & what you wanted it to perform & I can only emulate the comments this kid is worth his weight in gold

As an aerospace design engineer I had to pause the video to confirm as well. Searched through the comments to see if anyone else noticed and finally found yours bro. Yeah, I use slip fit tolerances for pins and bushings around .0005” to .001”, so when he said .009” to .015” I was like DAMN, that’s massive!!! Nonetheless though, one of Quinn’s best videos by far. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
