Disclaimer: I really like the BMW brand and I disagree with the complaint which Thomas repeats way too often when he says, “every BMW interior looks the same“, because all of the German luxury brands do this but in those vehicles, it’s looked at as a virtue. Example, when the C-class gets a similar looking and functioning interior as the E or even the S class, its a wonderful thing and The same is true when it happens in a BMW or an Audi. So all of that said, I have to ask, why was there no mention of the safety rating? Most are probably aware, but it’s worth mentioning given primary function of this category is hauling around the family. Assuming safety would weigh heavily on the decision for most the buyers making this choice, the Tesla offers a massive leap forward in this respect. So much so, that in the event of any serious crash, it would likely be a matter of life or death for at least one member of the family and in some cases, it could be the difference between losing multiple members of your family vs losing none and that is only considering the results of an the actual impact, but the active safety and accident avoidance in Tesla represents another leap forward of almost equal proportion to the aforementioned structural benefit. I’ll leave it there but I think safety has a place in every car review even if it is just a couple minutes at the end for those who want to know. If you read this far, Thank you for your time and consideration, I offer my humble opinion purely as a little constructive criticism. Lastly, Thank you both for all the great content, I think I have watched and liked virtually every video.

I’ve had a Tesla Model X and although it is a very futuristic car, it really wasn’t worth the price I was paying. I got rid of it 2 years in. The handling, suspension and comfort of the seats were not at all worth the price. It’s a cool car to ride in, but would definitely never purchase it again. I can confidently say that Mercedes benz, BMW, Range Rover, Audi, and Porsche SUV’s are definitely better choices.

I can say that I agree with the way the future is going. I’ve had a BMW 3 series, Lexus RX, Infiniti M35 and a 350Z in the household. Loved them all, but still being gas, you have to deal with automatic transmission lag (manual in the 350z), not so instant torque and natural vibrations due to combustion of fuel. Not to mention maintenance costs to make a gas car survive. I have since experienced life with a model 3 and S and oh my goodness I was missing out. No vibration, instant torque, no pesky maintenance (oil, trans fluid, AC condenser, spark plugs, brake pads and rotors, exhaust components rusting) and it drives me to work mostly while saving 90 bucks a month in gas vs charging at home? Game over. Forgot to mention smoking M3s on the road. I can’t still appreciate gas cars but I highly prefer electric.

Tesla have huge quality issues with every car, batteries degrade, they look like shit and teslas need maintenance too. And besides, the maintenance you leave for the workshop, so no need to do messy work on the BMW. I totally get the conundrum car enthusiast have with electric because of the feel of a nice ICE car. That visceral feel my old AMG E63 wagon was awesome but the loud engine noise amplified by the wagon cabin got a bit warring after 6 months (the newer AMG has a quiet mode). But I had a chance to try a Tesla model X for 2 weeks week and after few days with Auto Pilot 2.0 it was just brought a smile to my face during my commutes. In reality, I’d just get a fun ICE car like my old and sadly sold 1994 300ZX twin turbo and daily drive with kid car seats in some sort of Tesla. Nice video guys!

Testdrove a X5 and drove a model X yesterday. De Model X comes nowhere near the driving involvement of the X5. Whereas the Model X has some awkward side wing doors and white seats coming out of Star Trek, the X5 is a much better crafted and quality interior to sit in. Sure the model X is electric and goes faster to 60, but that's inherent to EV's. Just as it is inherent to BMW's to provide more involving to drive, go faster on the track and provide better range (less traveling time).

The Tesla keeps upping the ante in terms of performance and its really hard to ignore but for me personally, I find the giant screen that does everything to be a bit of an adjustment and prefer a few buttons. I have an X3 and only test driven the Tesla so not sure if that argument really is valid, but i found navigating Tesla's system a bit distracting and lacking the luxury of the BMW

Not to mention the resale value after a few years will be significantly more than the BMW because of those reasons. Buying a new Tesla isn’t much different than buying a used one.

Hello guys, You forgot to test a few items in the Tesla. 1. Autopilot 2. Summons feature from the key fob or the cellphone app. 3. Open the front doors using the key fob. 4. Interior pre-conditioning from the cellphone app. 5. Dog mode for pet safety. 6. Supercharger network coverage nationwide. 7. Home charging ability overnight. 8. Interior Storage capacity. 9. Five star Crash safety rating. 10. Full autonomous driving equipment as standard.

In all fariness, when discussing the price of electric vehicles vs ICE vehicles, you should include a discussion on the cost of ownership. Sure, electric vehicles are more expensive than ICE vehicles, and the Model X is more expensive then the BMW X5. But the cost of ownership, especially if you put some milage behind you each year, is actually a real factor when considering an electric vehicle. Even if the model X is the more expensive car, over the course of 3-5 years, it will most likely turn out to be quite a lot cheaper than the BMW X5.

@Peter-MH 5 жыл бұрын
Buying an expensive gas car right now just doesn't make sense. Clearly things are going electric - fast. In a few years used demand for the X5 might be low, and you'd take a massive hit on depreciation.
@mikefas
@mikefas 5 жыл бұрын
I can speak from experience. X5 depreciation is a major issue even before you factor in EVs. Tons of problems. Out of warranty models are practically worthless. I'm embarrassed to tell you what my 2011 X550i got after 8 years. Don't ask.

I have always loved the X5, and this one looks really good. Though $16k to equip a ho-hum interior with luxury trinkets is beyond absurd. Regardless, the X5 is really conventional compared to the Model X. Tesla has raised the bar significantly. I don't get all giddy over an exhaust note, and I kinda wish automakers would quiet-down their performance mode exhausts. I also prefer the linear acceleration that EV's offer. And those doors are cool AF. So Model X, hands down.
