Having had both in my inventory (and sold them both) I will say that I feel the GR Supra is a very fun and fast car. The LC500, on the other hand, is an absolute masterpiece of an automobile. Supra would win any race, but I'd rather be in the LC500 10/10 times. Great review!

The funniest thing is, the LC500 is basically an updated MK4 Supra with less potential for power mods (it was designed by the team who did the MK4 as they were all transferred to work on Lexus F cars in the early 00s after Toyota gave up on sports cars) It feels like your sitting in a modernised MK4 and it drives the same as a stock one too. Almost all the complaints you hear about the LC apply to the MK4 too, heavy compared to contemporaries, a GT car instead of sports car, etc etc, it's just the people moaning don't even know what MK4 Supras were like to drive before they were lowered, given 500HP, etc.

A couple points here: 1. DAMN is the LC 500 a good-looking car with some serious luxury to offer. 2. For the price, it also needs some better performance. Spending that much for nearly 500 HP should lend to it faring better than it does. 3. The new Supra is quicker than many people are giving it credit for.

The performance is fine- it's a luxury cruiser, not a sportscar (despite the uninformed constantly comparing it to the latter). For the price, show me another vehicle that has a wholly unique interior and exterior design. The truth is that every other vehicle at this price range is clicking ctrl+c ctrl+v on one or both. It's closest comparison is probably an M8, which has the performance with far worse ride quality but is $40,000 more expensive and a copy paste interior/exterior.

But I've also seen people say you can feel the torque difference is daily driving. I do think they should have done better with changing the interior a bit and a few other things. 6:10 I believe that is a driver safety package you could opt on any BMW for a while now, where it automatically tightens the seatbelt when you reach a certain speed. It gets really annoying when you want to sit more comfortably in the seat and not be pushed into it but you get used to it eventually.

The 2021 Supra, like all turbocharged BMWs, has a massively underrated horsepower figure. They publish 382hp, but in reality, it makes close to that at the wheels. It's a 420+ horsepower engine with a very fat torque curve.

These cars don't at all compete against each other in any way. One is a luxury GT car and the other is a relatively affordable sports car. Most LC500 owners will be geriatric grey hairs, while Supra owners will be older WRX and Evo racerbois upgrading once they got better paying job.

Heard about the LC "Structural Blue"?.. Actually no blue pigment, but structures which reflect only blue light not unlike a butterfly's wings. Or some crap like that, Lexus did a promo vid on it. One of the most beautiful blue's I've ever seen.

LC500 is more of a reliable and “affordable” Aston Martin competitor, where the Supra is the sports car you get to talk to your Cayman and C8 friends. Just get what you like. But I will say Lexus is making some great GTs no matter how much people complain about them staying the same and not innovating per se.

@@Syncopia Why the hell not ? Lol, in my book the RCF remains the real supra but with a V8. The RCF is more of a track and race worthy coupe than the LC500. The LC500 is more of a luxury coupe that is heavy with a v8.

To be honest, my wife loves riding in my LC since its extremely comfortable and quiet ( can also be loud if you want to), and I chose it for those reason. However, if i am going to modify the crap out of a car, I would choose supra, it cheap and you can have fun with it. In the end its a luxury 2ton coupe vs a performance light weight coupe....

The Supra is pretty fast…but the LC500 is so much nicer on the interior. But the new Supra is a true sports car…unlike the LC500 which is a GT car. It’s interesting because the old Mark IV Supra was more of a GT car.

Chris DC RR Racing has a supercharger kit for most Lexus(es?) but I don’t think they have it for the LC500

Nah what they gotta go is put the V8 in the HYBRID version (which comes with a V6), then TWIN-CHARGE it. Imagine the power 😳 electric boost, turbo and super 😩

I've owned many, many cars in my time. Porsche's, BMW's, Mercedes and more. Now I'm driving the Lexus LC500. Nothing compares. It's quick but not fast. That is not why you drive this car. It's not for racing, it's for cruising in style. When my wife won't give up the wheel, you know you have a great car.
