These lyrics are so much darker than I remember. “Feeling the pain as innocence dies.” “Hoping and praying for a brighter day.” This show was so much more intense than we thought as kids.

Liberty's Kids is probably my favorite of the 3 shows I watch on the weekends, with Wizards of Waverly Place being second, and iCarly being third. Although, I discovered and enjoyed iCarly BEFORE Wizards of Waverly Place. The Liberty's Kids characters get along better with the iCarly characters than the Wizards characters. Sarah is the most like Carly and Alex, James is the most like Sam and Justin, and Henri is the most like Freddie and Max. Now, Sarah, James, Henri, and I are going on outings with our friends from iCarly on Saturdays and our friends from Wizards of Waverly Place on Sundays. Our next outing is both to the Cat Cafe in the Strip District tomorrow morning and then to Carly's relatives' house in Polish Hill tomorrow evening. We also have plans to go to Yokoso Japanese Steakhouse in the Waterfront right after playing at our favorite playground, the Blue Slide Playground in Frick Park on Beechwood Boulevard on Sunday.

True patriotism isn't based on blind worship and devotion to the state believing in its superiority over others. It is embodying the values of what this country stands for and fights even the lawful government itself to protect it if necessary. It is the duty of every patriot to criticize, steer the nation in the right direction when it fails in its duty before its citizens.

You know for a kid's show, they're not afraid to delve into the pretty dark territory of the war and look at both sides. I had no idea that Cornwallis sent out his black soldiers away from the fort to basically die when they were desperate for rations. I had to look that up and as it turns out it did happen. Slavery is a very tough topic to touch on for a kid's program, but this program did better than some movies about the revolution such as The Patriot and that was rated R. They even show George Washington saying that the blacks who fought for the British to gain their freedom would be returned to slavery. It's tough when you have a well-known slave owner and you have to make him likable to an audience even back in 2003 would have been tough too, much less today.

It's going into history so of course it's still dark for a kids show and despite what people are taught George Washington and Tomas Jefferson were not completely great people for owning slave(Jefferson put anti slavery language in the original draft of the declaration of independence so he saw it was starting to see it was wrong but he never freed his slaves and even wrote a book trying to justify it, and Washington started to see it but said he couldn't imagine his life with out slaves(because he was lazy and didn't want to pay them) and waited for his death then his wife's death to free them), after finding that out I lost a lot of respect for them, Benjamin Franklin still has my complete respect because he owned slave but when he saw the evil of it he freed them.

I love Liberty Kids.I was so excited each time the teacher put it on.I hated it when my overflow teacher skipped the theme song.

Oh my god... I barely remember this show nor the song until I watched the visual theme song (but the comment section is closed so I'll comment here). That feeling of just watching what's happening in the intro - the song is so beautiful and sounds kinda sad because by just hearing the voices while watching sad, emotional and awful scenes of American history in the visual animations. I'm beginning to remember the small bits of the intro scenes they included that used to stand out to me. The rapping part is what I also begin to remember. Almost everything. I guess I used to watch it or something, the intro helped me.

An absolute pearl of a song. I wish the same group of people that made Liberty's Kids would make the same type of show , but with a different historical event ( Civil war, World war 1 and 2 , and others). It would also be cool if James , Sarah, and Henri, had aged.

They, er... probably wouldn't be around for the World Wars. I'd totally be on board for a Civil War series following some of their descendants, though. It could be surprisingly topical given our current polarized and dissenting political climate.

Living in the U.S., I of course watched this show religiously. However, now being older, I can't bring myself to watch this anymore with its glorified version of the U.S. that never existed. That said, I do appreciate that it tried. The theme song is really awesome too.

Glorified? How so? It shows that America was a big dream, but there were struggles to get that dream. Slavery is not glossed over, nor is the mistreatment of Indians.
