My husband and I moved to Fox Hunt Road in October 1988. When we found this house the serenity and peacefulness is what attracted us to this area. My son had graduated from college and on his own and we were looking for our forever home.
The first thing we did is remove the horse barn on the property below and build a 1,000 sq.ft. housing unit used to store the vintage cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles. From one kind of horse power to another!
We also had Kit Foxes, Mule Deer, Peacocks, Skunks, Coyotes, Possums - and people would drop off and abandon dogs in our area of which I took in several over the years. We also have birds of all kinds from Owls, Hawks, Crows and smaller varieties of song birds.
Being on a cul-de-sac has been a blessing in that we have no through traffic and that helps maintain our tranquility.
When we moved here in 1988, the population was around 20,000 residents. We . have grown to approximately 96,000 residents. We are probably the last open area of natural beauty but still close to Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties - close to shopping areas and restaurants - then we come home to a peaceful environment.
Carbon Canyon is the gateway to the main establishments in Chino Hills. There is a community at the county line of San Bernardino and Orange County called Sleepy Hollow. They are celebrating their 100 year anniversary as a community in October 2023. Chino Hills became a city in 1991.
The only remodeling inside the house to meet our desired living was the kitchen and master bedroom. The kitchen was a small galley kitchen with limited space and no cabinets. The people who built the house owned and rode horses and wanted an easy lifestyle. I had to have a bigger kitchen and more storage for all my kitchen appliances and gadgets. The master bathroom had a sunken bath tub separate from a shower and an existing sauna room. We redesigned the shower as an open concept and put in a Jaccuzi tub with custom tiling. A wonderful refuse.
The house became the gathering place for our families and friends and hosting weddings, receptions, birthdays and holidays. With an expansive patio area with easy access to our family room and kitchen, it became the place to come and enjoy the many varied views from our balcony. In the winter, the mountains are covered with snow for a majestic sight - during the other months, the mountains come through to remind us of the beautiful place Fox Hunt is. This house was more than the peaceful home my husband and I wanted, it became the place our families and friends became a part of.
When anyone arrives at Fox Hunt, they are automatically transfixed by the panoramic views of mountains, greenery, birds and city lights at night. The area has become a wonderful place to take a walk and enjoy the beauty around this area.
The energy that flows from the minute you enter through the double doors and see the view fills you with an overwhelming feeling of calm.
