Love Through the Fire. It has remained one of my favourite VS titles and I never get bored of it. Love the regional, low budget feel it has and it was clearly made with a lot of love and effort which shines through.

12:35 It was still called "Through the Fire" when it was (barely) released back then. It played Fort Worth, Texas in '88. The Star-Telegram even gave it a fairly positive review! It didn't become "Gates of Hell II" until Creature Features released it on VHS along with new tapes of Night of the Zombies and The Gates of Hell. 1997 I think. (I'll never forget the way the cashier looked at me when I plunked down $19.98 for NOTZ). It was around the same time Edde Entertainment retitled those Wizard Video releases as Zombie 3, 4, 5 & 6. I think Through the Fire sat on the shelf between its theatrical screening and the Creature Features tape, at least in this country.

The set for Well House the haunted house in IT (2017) was built and filmed in my hometown of Oshawa, Ontario. Deranged (1974) was also filmed there!

Digging the videos, as well as your books. Just breezed through Video Night to finish my summer and had a blast. And Lansdale is tremendous - agreed on The Drive-In books but Nightrunners is the one that totally floored me.

This is strange. The Lamp is a movie I hardly don't remember anything about, yet I love it. How? Well, some backstory. I'm Norwegian, so my reminiscenses may only partially match American culture. First of all I miss not only the video rental culture, but I miss the days when there weren't just video rental chain stores, but independent little video rental stores. The equivalent to your Blockbuster Vido in Norway was a chain store called Video Nova. They were everywhere, and I was on first name terms with the people who worked in the local branches in my Derry like (Stephen King reference) little Eastern Norwegian town. Video Nova was great, but we also had two stores nearby (the farthest was 45 minutes away on bike) owned and staffed by just one or two people. And what was fun about those indepdent stores is that these guys (proper movie buffs) would actually go to Cannes and other markets and get rental rights for their little store, literally buying just a single rental copy of obscure little movies, often horror or B movie stuff like Andy Sidaris movies. Now, one of these stores had The Lamp. I never saw that at Video Nova or anywhere else. So me and my buddy would walk or bike to these stores and rent these cool little movies. What made it even more magical, in this pre-internet age (I'm 49), is that Norway had RIDICULOUS censorship rules for violence, way stricter than anything connected to the British video nasties hysteria. Norway would cut simple gunshot hits in action movies. Alien and Aliens were massacred by the censors. But with these independent little stores, things went udner the radar, so me and my buddy could get uncut Hellraiser, uncut Re-Animator, and so on. After that one store shut its doors, I never could find The Lamp again, and I regret not watching it more times (and not copying it). I don't remember much of it, except being happy to include it on our ritual horror movie binges. Later, I couldn't even find it on Pirate Bay. And now, here you are, bringing me back to The Lamp. I can't wait to see it again. I hope my little personal anecdote is welcome. Maybe next time I'll tell how I knew an actual horror movie blackmarket dealer. Yes, one that operated just like a drug dealer does. Actually, that guy is quite a story idea. I think I'll jot down some story ideas now.

Adam, i enjoy your enthusiasm for horror books/movies. I love the background in your vids as well. Is your whole room like that?

Thanks. Two walls are shelves like you see behind me, then there's my desk and the 4th wall is bookshelves/comics. One day (maybe around Halloween) I'll do an office tour.

I’m not sure. I went there close to the time that The Lamp was shot. I went to the fine arts museum a lot more often which is like a football field away. But the nostalgia with that place was real when I watched it!

Good question, I'm in Marin, there's a lot, we had scenes shot here from Dirty Harry, The Godfather, Temple of doom, Basic Instinct. And some of my all time favorites The Fog, Children of the damned, and Big trouble in little China. Oh and The video dead as well. I enjoy this channel, keep it up.

I become a VS subscriber during the halfway sale and I wasn't too excited about any of the release in the first month I got and haven't watched any of them yet but watching the reviews has me more interested in checking them out. Also I found a copy Clown in a Cornfield today at a thrift store in Berlin NJ! Been meaning to get around to picking up a copy for a while now and I almost feel like I committed robbery getting it for 99 cents.

Pittsburgh: Night of the living dead, dawn of the dead, midnight, the majorettes, effects, bloodsucking pharaohs in Pittsburgh, my bloody valentine (remake). Also, Martin was filmed in a house in my old neighborhood. Just a few blocks away from where I lived. Kinda spoiled as far as zombie movies go. Some people even call it city of the living dead. 👍
