As I watch this video I’m wearing a labyrinth tee shirt. Interesting synchronicity, no? I began walking the labyrinth around 2005. There is a church near me that has one on the lawn. The experience has impacted my life profoundly over many years. It is hard to explain … it is as though there is a knowing that seeps into my awareness as I walk. Over time after I go into my life and I receive clues and hints in my everyday life that I apply to questions I’ve had in the course of my labyrinth walks.

While I was watching your video, I remembered how a few years ago, while I was under the influence of alcohol and a mixture of drugs, I was sitting in the club alone in a somber state, feeling overwhelmed by how life seemed to be falling apart. Surrounded by friends and strangers who were dancing and enjoying themselves, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was fundamentally wrong with the world. The music was blaring, and I found it intolerable, so I decided to leave and head back to the apartment where we were staying. But I wasn’t familiar with the area, and all the buildings looked the same. I had a disorienting experience, wandering through the neighborhood, feeling like I was trapped in a real-life labyrinth. No matter how hard I tried to figure out where I was or retrace my steps, I couldn’t make sense of where I needed to go.

This is one of my favorite videos yet, for each time I watch your content I am reminded of my own experiences, my own journey into and back from the heart of the labyrinth. I teared up multiple times watching this, as I've not thought in detail about my journey for some time. I believe you're doing good work, important work. About circumambulation, we see this practice adopted by almost every religion and in mystic practices too, I believe the main solid reason for it is as mentioned in the video is to disturb one’s consciousness, to get one absorbed into the object or deity he/she is circumbulating, to become one with them.. I loved the inclusiveness and clarity of this video, this channel is gold ❤

I usually listen to your videos while at the gym, especially after a difficult day. Jung's quote at the end choked me up in the middle of a set. I usually describe my depressive episodes as being trapped in a labyrinth. I would chant in my head "Let me out. Let me out." because no matter how hard I try to be optimistic, I find an even darker truth I cannot ignore. Like my mind would be playing tricks on me, taking me down what appears to be "safe" or "correct" paths of thought only to find "monsters" or "enemies". Typically, I just endure this but recently I've been asking "to what end?" I don't have anyone waiting for me come home. I'm not needed, or even wanted. And I cannot ask a friend for a shoulder to cry on, they have their own lives, their own problems... "And yet I am, and live" "Like shadows tossed into the nothingness of scorn and noise" "Where there neither sense of life nor joys" "I long for scenes where man had never trod" "A place where woman never smiled or wept" "There to abide with my creator, God," "And sleep as I in childhood sweetly slept" "Untroubling and untroubled where I lie" "The grass below, above, the vaulted sky."

My first introduction to the labyrinth was in the 90s. My church (Baptist) was invited to an event held at a Lutheran church. We were asked not to speak but to reflect while walking the maze. I dogmatically dismissed it as silly and strange. Here I am today, without religion on the path of spirituality and enlightenment. I get it.

Thankyou for this reminder.🖤 Especially in this moment in time and it's increasing absurdity. No matter the size of the labyrinth, the increasing twist and turns, that if I lose my lamp and fall into the abyss where only darkness persists. I only need to remember that this isn't another trap to get caught in. That if I ever feel lost, I can always return to the center and try again. With wisdom as a guide, the path becomes clear. There are no walls. We just need to look from within. It's when we stay centered moving forward becomes easy again. Like putting up a sail, you just gotta ride the wind.🤍

Great video! The Egyptian labyrinth is so cool. Just want to reiterate it was most likely not built that way to confuse, and Herodotus probably described the funerary complex at Hawara this way because he as a foreigner was confused. I think some context around ancient Egyptian funerary complexes is also important in understanding this ancient wonder! The pyramid is really just part of the entire complex that as a whole is integral to preserving the cyclicality of time. These structures would also hold stone simulations of plant life, as stone represented order/permanence while the organic matter/scenes simulated represented chaos/decay. I wonder why Amenemhet III's funerary complex at Hawara was so different? Does anyone have any theories? I think maybe because of the region, the fayyum, comprising of many waterways, maybe it could be an "ordered" representation of waterways? As water was linked to chaos and the destructive power of Sebek (the fayyum's local deity), maybe creating such a display of "order" was in hopes to create balance? If i remember correctly, I think they found a sebekeum as well in this area as well as fragments of Sebek statuary. I think it would be cool if this god had a connection to this "labyrinth"

I have read so much about labyrinths recently because I've been reading House of Leaves ,- a book I cannot recommend highly enough, esp to those watching this! The whole book is an homage to many things, inc labyrinths and Jorge Luis Borges. And yet, this channel has managed to totally school me about something I thought "I knew about." I've read nothing on the recommended reading list, most of which will soon be on my pile of books I'll never read but know I would love. The Idea of the Labyrinth from Classical Antiquity through the Middle Ages by Penelope Reed Doob, which I also read as "side research" for House of Leaves., is such an interesting book and would definitely rec it as well. This channel has changed the way I view the world and life itself (both bc of the vids and bc of the stuff I've read from the recommended reading lists). I can't tell if this makes sense atm because I'm high but that's basically a labyrinth itself? Stay strong, friends!

Through the labyrinth of youtube conspiracy and spiritual videos I searched. Through the many turns and false paths I did research. Yet through all the clutter a small glimpse of light shown periodically. Renewing my hope and guiding the search methodically. Life on a magnet and within a leyden jar, such as the mysteries are. As above so below, as without so within. Forgotten is that which separates the opposites. The labyrinth, the mem-brain, the dielectric gradient. The ordered energy, patterns of observations and experiences that create the logic gates of comparison . The mind of the conductor of your electric light orchestra. Colored is the ray show of absorption and reflection of light for the man we call hue. Radiate only good thoughts, words, and actions to cancel out the waves of incoming bad is what we must do.

Thank you for clarifying the meaning and purpose of a labyrinth. Most equate a maze and a labyrinth. A labyrinth has one way in and one way out. The three stages are purge (the walk in), union (the center), and engage, (apply what you have learned). The iconography is deep and old and yet alive today. After the shooting at Columbine, survivors created a labyrinth to aid in healing. You can Google labyrinths. There is a locater to help people find local or regional labyrinths.

I’ve always seen depictions of mazes and labyrinths as a 2d representation, similar to a hedge maze but conceptualizing it as a 3d spiral downward or upward could add a new dimension of interpretation to its significance. I’ve been fixated on the labyrinth/Minotaur symbolism recently…. Really enjoyed this one!

'Crete' video XD A mini version of the Crete labyrinth was in the game The battle of olympus. If you can get through that with an actual Nintendo, and no help, other than to draw your own map... you're as great as Orpheus :) The word nintendo BTW, means 'leave luck to Heaven'.

I am experiencing in my meditations, the living God, present in all things -- permeating and infusing every atom of my being and the universe in his/her oneness. Being novel and new to me and formally discounted as nothing, I am exploring this new relationship. All while dissolving Self into Oneness. This is the growing edge of me fully inhabiting Self, as Aksil Rebis. Meanwhile, my life is a confusing labyrinth not knowing which way to turn. And feeling unable to leave the peace of my inner heart

It reminds me of Westworld where there also was a labyrinth that led to consciousness. I didn't know about these artifacts. Going back to Westworld referenced as a metaphor for us operating in a world we can't fully perceive, they cast a man in black, wearing a hat, to be the evil one. It's oddly reminiscent of two characters of ancient and modern legend: the demiurge and the hat man.

Amazing video. I did not expect a video about labyrinths to be so engaging
