Many thanks Rebecca for this tremendously interesting broadcast. Also a big thank you to Erik, whose detailed knowledge (such as the dramatic impression the lime wash render would have made on those approaching the castle) really brought the past very much back to life.

Thanks for this video!! I'm a great grandson of Edward Seymour, through the eldest son who pretty much had his inheritance removed, and sued for it.. Edward Seymour of Berry Pomeroy. I still see Seymour in many of my family, as we're kind of a plain people... sorta like Plain Jane!! =) Maybe... maybe I look like what a modern Seymour would look like.

Hello! Do you have any family stories that have passed down over the centuries about what really happened with his marriage to Katherine Fillol? I've been researching Thomas Seymour, Baron Sudeley and Lord High Admiral for many years, and in turn the Seymour family as well. I think they are utterly fascinating! Don't forget, Thomas was seen as extremely good looking for the time so they weren't all so "plain"! I met Dominic who owns Wolf Hall with his siblings this summer and he definitely looks like a Seymour!

@@TudorsDynasty No, I wish we had more stories on our past. My Grandfather, whose Grandfather was a Texas Ranger, was pretty much totally silent on any of our family history. It's just the way they were, I guess.. He's passed now but I wish I'd talked to him more, for sure. I had no clue he was even a pilot in the 1950's until my Father pulled out his flight logs and license after he passed. It's sad.. I did all this research on my own. I hope you are going thru your tree, as well. If you know of, or find any English roots in Virginia, you will find many of the lower noble families in your line, and maybe up to royals or many who were at court. The most common job I found was Sheriff/High Sheriff. Thanks again and I'll be watching what you post!!
