Just wanted to take a minute to say what I love about your videos/style: They are always presented in a light-hearted, easy-going tone that exploration and adventure are all about. You don't overexplain or intellectualize travel, you simply enjoy the journey and present your experience, and I really like that

Enjoyed your video of the Texas Hill Country. Not to be critical, but you missed the most rugged and beautiful part of the area. Just a few miles north from the Fredericksburg is the Willow City loop, a stunningly beautiful area especially in the spring when the wild flowers are in full bloom. The ruggedness of the hills and the wild flowers make it a must see. Also the Leakey, Vanderpool and Campwood area with the drive through the most rugged part of the hill country is gorgeous. In that area, you also have two of the most beautiful state parks, Lost Maples (my personal favorite) and Garner State Park., again a must see. Hope you can come back and complete your journey through the beautiful Texas Hill country.

When I was a kid/teen, my dad and his pal leased a hunting ranch out in southwest Texas. It was like desert and hot as blazes in the summer. When winter came, we always went and stayed a couple times during the hunting season. Usually a week or two at a time. I gets really cold in the winter, we even had snow at times. Now at the ripe old age of 53, it's time for me to take my family out there for a couple weeks. And living in south Louisiana, its not all that far that one could drive out on a rode trip for a week or so. We were about 50 miles southwest of Rocksprings. Cool landscapes for sure...

So excited you enjoyed the hill country! My favorite place on earth! Enchanted Rock is a 30 year old Christmas tradition for our family! Sons now grandsons go. Maybe another time you can come for the Christmas parade and lights in Johnson City. There's so much to see it's hard in one weekend but you hit some good places. We live about 2 hours away, this is a go to place for us. The picture of my dogs was actually taken at Pedernales State Park. If you had time to do it , if you kept hiking around on the left you would have come up to one of the most beautiful spots at the park. I really enjoy your channel and am so glad you enjoyed our hill country and bluebonnets!

I live in Austin and will caution you the ‘hill country’ is nearly as large as some eastern US states so driving around in just this region can be daunting in duration (especially if you also want to take in Austin, San Antonio, Boerne, Banderas, Marble Falls, Llano, and so many TX towns)

It is so gratifying to see someone do a piece on the country part of the Hill Country. Often, the focus is on Austin but as a former Austinite, my favorite times were heading west out of town to the Pedernales Falls (which you could body slide down years ago) and into Fredericksburg. I noticed the buffalo on your cap and it made me think of the fun we've always had visiting Caprock State Park up in the Amarillo area. It's full of redrock canyons and the state's buffalo herd, which can be seen throughout the park including the campgrounds. Safe travel to you always.

There is also a butte next to the rock which requires much more climbing, as in hands and feet but it's worth the effort for those that can make it. It is flat on top with grass, surrounded by rock. Kind of a round top. They may have made an easier way to get there. I climbed it decades ago.

It's actually not the childhood home of Nimitz (common misconception). He was born there but spent the majority of his childhood in Kerrville before graduating from Tivy high school. His mom and step dad/uncle ran the St. Charles hotel which stood where the Sid Peterson hospital used to be located in town.

Hamilton's Pool looks mostly the same but operates totally different from forty years ago when I would go. It's not nearly as fun now. I've been to almost every place you went in this video in the 70's and 80's. The best spot on the video was the Nimitz Museum. It took me all day to see and read and think about what's there. But when it comes to the Texas Hill Country for every place you visit there are ten more to see. You could live in that part of Texas and never see them all. Every town is unique, a jewel with no end to creativity in what is called, The Friendly State, the Texas motto we believe in. 😅

I never saw the Pedernales Falls so low. We used to go there and walk out to the falls where the water would flow at about six inches deep all the time. At the bottom the rock turned up and it would launch you up and out into the pool. That was one of the main reasons to go there. Apparently, some people would do that who weren't good enough swimmers and there were drownings. There are whirlpools. There is also a split in the rocks downstream about 10 feet wide where tubing or rafting was fun. A little rough on a tube because the water was moving fast through there. Now they don't allow swimming there. The water looks very low!
