I live just outside of Dawson City, and I go up the Midnight Dome very often because the view is spectacular. On a clear day you can see about 80 kilometers, or possibly more. Dawson is an amazing place to live, although the winters and summers are quite different from each other. It is a pity that so many people are going to, or from Alaska, because they miss the Dempster Highway, which is another spectacular drive. Right up to the Arctic Ocean!

We did it in the reverse, Dawson City then to Chicken. We spent 5 days in Dawson city during Discovery Days , doing the walking tours, staying in the Gold Rush Campground, visiting the Original gold claim, a tour of Dredge #4 and of course panning for gold. We visited the Midnight Dome. we both did the Sourtoe and visited the Can-can girls at Diamond Tooth Gerties Saloon. Yes we drove the Top-of-the-world-Highway.. the scenery was absolutely amazing. We loved it so much in 2023, we are going back in Aug 2024!

Excellent! I love your videos. For 20 minutes I was totally engaged in your trip. My only concern is... the video ended too soon. Your video and producing skills are perfect. Thank you and your dad for offering a glimpse of your travels.

Great video. We did the Top of the World Highway, this past summer. And we were towing our Airstream. The scenery was amazing and the road did bounce a few things around in the RV, but nothing that duct tape couldn't fix.

We did The Top of the World this past summer going the opposite direction from Dawson City to Chicken. We were one of 25 RVs in the tour group lead by Fantasy RV Tours. Absolutely wonderful trip, along with the gnarly toe.

Could not smiling throughout your video. We did this drive in June 2023 and it brought back great memories! We loved Chicken. Luckily we had no wait for the ferry. We did not do the toe cocktail- not that brave. The views from midnight dome are amazing- you’ll just have to go back to Dawson City again to see for yourselves. Thanks for brightening up my day,!

Hi, Josh My Wife and I are enjoying your videos especially the Alaska, Canada ones. I was very blessed to be able to go in the summer of 2007. I had a camera but not one that would take video. I took the "Top of the World hwy" on my way home in late August early September it was Awesome and your video brought back a lot of wonderful memories. You asked about the view from the high point overlooking the city of Dawson and the Yukon it is Awesome I had a clear day when I was there. I would put a picture in the comment but don't see a way to do that. Another wonderful drive east of Dawson was the Dempster Hwy to the "Tombstone Territorial Park" Thanks for letting me relive some memories, Ray😊

We looked hard to see content on the Top of The World Highway (short cut from Dempster Highway to Fairbanks). Great video - you took the mystery out of the drive. Hmm, Sourtoe Cocktail looks like a very gross challenge. Might be up for it - I'll let you know if I "chicken" out. Happy Travels!!

For those who don't know the story of Chicken, and how it got its name, I offer this hilarious story: (copied from Wikipedia): “Chicken was settled by gold miners in the late 19th century, and in 1902 the local post office was established, requiring a community name. Due to the prevalence of ptarmigan (TAR-mih-gun) in the area, that name was suggested as the official name for the new community. However, the spelling could not be agreed on, and Chicken was used to avoid embarrassment.” Thus, it’s probably the only place in the country, maybe the world, that was named because of spelling insecurity on the part of the namers. Around the national border I saw a wolverine dash across the road. Out on the back side of nowhere, I blew a tire. But within a few minutes, a pair of young miners changed it as fast as Bo and Luke Duke on "Dukes of Hazard". When I got into town around 10:30, there was someone running a chainsaw in the midnight sun.
