Upright rows is a no no exercise. Every physical therapist I have ever meet said this is a horrible excercise because no matter how you do it, it causes shoulder impingment. Regardless of the weight. The rest of your exercises look great in your program.

This is great. I just did the whole thing with 5lbs on each hand, 1 set of 15 reps each, and I know I'm not gonna be able to lift my arms tomorrow but god damn it feels good right now. That pleasant ache from post-workout that tells you you've activated a lot of underused muscles. I'm trying to get in shape to play baseball with men and hopefully pitch, so this was exactly what I was looking for. I need as much power as I can get in my throw.

Amen brother, I've had so much trouble going from the offseason to spring because of the limiting factor of weather. But one thing that I do that kind of helps is just practicing my mechanics for my swing or for throwing/pitching. I try to mimic movements from pro players while incorporating things that I already know I need to work on (keeping my head on the imaginary ball during a swing, not falling off to one side after a throw/pitch) Hope this helps you out a little!

Great video. If I may add to number 5 external/internal rotation, this may work much better in a lean or a laying position as this would keep constant tension on the rotator cuff and allow the brachiallis in the forearm/upper arm to be relieved of that tension therefore giving more stimulus to the cuff.
@Hannya-d2h Жыл бұрын
As a physiotherapist and catcher i can only recommend these. Only thing i'd like to highlight is to not go into too much internal rotation/thumbs down when doing lateral raises especially when hitting around 90° elevation/abduction in your should. Otherwise excellent stuff for stability and intermuscular coordination

Thanks Justin I went to pitching class yesterday and I improved a lot. Thanks for helping me improve
@shanewhitefeather62986 жыл бұрын
What I love about this routine, Justin, is that it incorporates low weights and high reps. Young ballplayers should NOT hit the weight room like Arnold The Terminater. Sure they did that in the late 90's, but that was a chemical thing; obviously something that should especially NEVER be done. Great work, Justin.
@angieruehs41046 жыл бұрын
Great drill for kids. How often would you recommend this exercise, Shan?
@shanewhitefeather62986 жыл бұрын
Just to be safe, I would say every other day and skip days in which there a game and your boy or girl is pitching.
@slundgr5 жыл бұрын
I think most ballplayers would be better off doing body weight exercises like body squats, pull-ups, lunges, jumping jacks and fingertip pushups if done properly instead of hitting the weight room. Too many players and coaches don't know how to weight train for baseball players. Squeezing a tennis ball and working forearm, hand and wrist muscles will help.
