Jim Phillips is a legend. Other radio broadcasters that came up around the radio station were initially terrified to talk to him. It took them a long time to work up the nerve to, usually he eventually spoke to them and these were folks that shared the same office with him and they were in the business. I listened to him for 20 years, I would be scarred to talk to him unless it was obvious he was open to conversation. He’s a private person, he doesn’t take any bs, he doesn’t like flattery either. We’re you expecting a hug, kiss, and a star on your homework? Come on! He’s a freaking legend! He’s brilliant! I have little doubt he is what you described but that’s no surprise. He’s the legend, not us.
