BoA has debuted and has always been a solo performer (not including special group collaborations: Anyband, GOT, Dancing singers). This song No.1 actually made her a superstar in Korea. The song is very happy and upbeat, but the lyrics are quite sad. The song has been voted as Top Kpop song of all times. It has been covered by many idols over the past 20 years since the release of the song. Some BoA suggestions (Korean title tracks): teen years: No 1, Atlantis Princess, Valenti, My name, Girls on top, Merry Chri --> these are considered Kpop classics twenties: Hurricane Venus, Copy and Paste, Only one, Shadow (not title, but an amazing song) thirties: Kiss my lips, Camo, 1 shot 2 shot, Better, Forgive me Note: the song ''Merry-Chri'' became very well known Christmas song. The Japanese version ''Meri Kuri'' has achived massive success. The song has been entering the charts all over Japan every Christmas since it has been relesed almost 20 years ago. Even BoA once commented that she earns a lot based on that song every winter.

BoA No 1 album came out in 2002 actually. I am a huge BoA fan, as I've heard all her music, she's always been a soloist, the first, actually, she's also done music for anime in Japan. But yeah, that video was proabably only uploaded to youtube on 2009 (since YT came out in 2007), but No1. is her second album, and came out in 2002. As a fan, I would of course suggest all her songs lol, so it's hard to narrow down ones you have to listen to, they are all iconic to be honest. So if you want to listen to more from her "ID; Peace B" is a well known older song of hers, if you want newer songs she's got em too, so there are songs from her old discography all the way up to current, so so much to recommend really. I really like a lot of stuff from her Japanese albums too, like "Listen to my heart" and "Every Heart" I mean anything from her LIsten to my Heart Album really from 2002. Good luck.

She's got songs from 2000-Now so yeah, with a discography that big it's really hard to recommend one thing lol, if you ask me what's her best song, i mean that's just impossible to come up with. She does have a full English album called "BoA" from 2009 that may be of interest, all the songs on it are in English, it was her one and only English debut. A lot of good songs on it. "Energetic" and "Eat You Up" both have Music Videos and are popular songs of hers as well that people check out when finding out about her.@@BestFriendsReact

Girl Group GOT represents the 4 generations of Kpop (1= BoA; 2 = Taeyeon, Hyoyen; 3 = Wendi, Seulgi; 4 = Karina, Winter), BUT she was also in a project Dancing singers this year where she performed and made a single with: Lee Hyori, Hwasa, Kim WanSun and Uhm Junghwa. Lee Hyori being the leader, BoA and Hwasa being the youngest members and WanSun and Junghwa being the music legends that they are.

H.O.T. is an acronym for Highfive Of Teenagers. They formed in '96. Fin.K.L (Fin Killing Liberty) formed in '98 while their debut album "Blue Rain" sold up to 291,905 copies.

You got it right the first time. It is pronounced like finkle as far as I know. At around 4:30 (of this video), Lee Hyori is the one in front. If you want something a little more upbeat from Fin.K.L., To Me Boyfriend is a song that I recognized after looking through some of their stuff. For Lee Hyori, Bad Girls is a must. 10 Minutes was her debut song. U-Go-Girl is another really popular song (Itzy's Yuna did a cover of it last year for the KBS Song Festival). Yeah, you are certainly going to have a lot of low-quality videos if you look at older stuff. Showing concert footage in an MV seemed a bit more common back in the day. Yeah. BoA started out as a soloist. I wouldn't be surprised if you had heard a cover or maybe a karaoke performance of it. It is a pretty iconic song. I mean, KZbin wasn't around when most of these songs were out and they would have been uploaded later.

oh ok, now that you point it out i can see it! when you barely know someone its damn near impossible to spot them when they are that much younger lol - nice i added all of those to my list.. is U Go Girl the song that Jimin did on Second World? - while i would obviously rather higher quality videos, but its fun to have a lil laugh at the quality of yesteryear lol - i think we will run into some songs we have heard covers of or heard in kpop fan made videos and such, but if that happens the original needs to have a dedicated listen - the early days of recording videos to vhs lol

@BestFriendsReact Kim Wanseon-Dance in the rhythm, Kang Suzy-Violet Fragrance, Lee Jiyeon- I don't know what is love yet, Ha Subin - NoNoNoNo. Stage mix videos. During the same period, there were Moritaka Chisato, Matsuda Seiko in Japan. Except for Kim Wanseon, they all are in similar concepts, the pure innocence. Kim was dance genius and she had influenced the whole kpop hugely.

I admit I was a bit sad to see your HOT reaction was to Candy of all songs. Its undoubtedly one of if not their biggest hit & a bop, but HOT as a group really had a lot to offer. Someone already mentioned their name stands for Highfive of Teenager and as such, they actually also covered politically relevant topics in a few of their songs that were a lot more hiphop than Candy. Age of Violence talks about school violence & bullying, which still prevails in Korea until this day and Aiya discusses a Korean scandal of a fire during a school camp that killed several children due to corruption and neglect of caretakers. Aiya especially is to me the real beginning of SM "noise" music, sampling pieces of Mozarts 9th symphony I believe and also Beethovens Moonlight Sonata while combining it with rap, rock instrumentals and a meaningful mv. If you guys ever feel up to it, I'd love to see your reaction to these H.O.T songs, because I believe they set so many corner stones for SM and Kpop, but unfortunately go forgotten most of the time when people discuss icons of the 1st gen. They were incredibly successful, nationally as well as internationally, especially in China and even performed during MJ's Michael Jackson and Friends concert in Seoul. When they held a reunion concert as part of a variety show, they had initially planned for 800 people. But within THREE hours, over 30k people applied for tickets- and this was in 2018, SEVENTEEN years after the group disbanded. All of the members are still active today, Kangta still as a singer under SM, and enjoy popularity. I had the pleasure of picking apart Aiya for a music class, and it really ignited my passion for the group, even though they disbanded before I was even born lol

Thank you for this reaction! I love all these songs hahah I recommend you react Sechskies - Couple (H.O.T's biggest rival in the 90s) and TVXQ - Hug and My Little princess. TVXQ is a group that is still active, but with 3 fewer members than before (which were 5).
