The reason why these awards nights were so simple was that there were no satellite rights for these events. They were just plain, no-nonsense events that were either telecast on Doordarshan, or were sold to video magazines like Lehren and news magazines like NewsTrack. So there's no visual extravaganza here (thankfully!).
