The moment where I realized that I despised Dawson. He has the nerve to gaslight Joey and blame her for his actions, when he didn't break up with his girlfriend before they slept together!

He had no intention to sleep with her there and then, he did not plan it, it was the moment for both of them. As he said, they did not even speak the whole summer, neither of them had any clue that the evening would turn out like this. I tend to agree that he did not break the magic by telling her right at the moment, but he was decent enough to do it first thing in the morning (as soon as possible). He might not gave been fair to the girl he was seeing for that night (cheating), but again, he was fair enough to make the call asap. Joey was just Joey in this scene, trying to be so perfectly correct without considering what the circumstances were the previous night, and judgmental enough to push him away. I liked PJ more, but Dawson did not do anything wrong in this particular case and tried to be fair to anybody involved WITHOUT ruining a magical night he had been dreaming of for years.

He did not plan to seduce Joey while having a GF, the moment just happened between them. He did not come clean about this to Joey earlier because it did not have any significance at the time. He and Joey were and were intended to remain friends. The moment this fact gained significance was the very moment they started to kiss. I do not think he was even conscious enough to think clearly then. He went for a coffee (actually, to do the breakup with his GF!) first thing in the morning and then came back with some romantic gestures like the flower. How on earth would anyone come back to the room after a night like this starting with: 'Good morning, I have good news! As soon as I had woken up I went out and called my now ex-girlfriend and broke up with her. I think you need to know this right away that it is handled." It did not have any meaning (he was not in a relationship) by the time Joey found it out. She simply overreacted the way Joey always does. :)

Dawson was wrong for not telling Joey about his girlfriend. He had plenty of time to do so before them sleeping together happened. It’s that little unspoken rule they have they don’t talk about their sex lives because they’re that dysfunctional. Joey had a right to be upset and then they go right into the same fight and pattern they always do when trying to force the romance issue with them. They just don’t work romantic wise. I was glad Joey shut the door on them for good after this. It was enough.

No they were so dysfunctional because the writers never gave them a chance to be together and be happy. They always threw little forced details to break them apart and keep them away, it never happened organically from their personalities, like when Pacey and Joey broke up because of their own flaws clashed and exploded. Hate the writers for this very reason, Dawson and Joey ALWAYS wanted to be together but were never allowed to. When they’re actually together I see absolutely nothing that could potentially break them apart, whereas with P/J I instantly saw Pacey’s insecurity being a problem and Joey’s past with Dawson and her dreams for the future, made them bound to clash.

I get why everyone loves Pacey so much. I like him too. He is the funny impulsive lovable "underdog." But I'll never understand why people hate on Dawson so much. Dawson is a more realistic character. Pacey is like a fantasy perfect boyfriend. His only true flaw is he doesn't think he's good enough.🙄 The show was actually written for Dawson and Joey to end up together. The only reason it was Joey and Pacey in the end is because that's what the fans wanted because of Joshua Jackson and Katie Holmes chemistry together (because they dated in real life). But really the writing was foreshadowing Dawson and Joey from the first episode to the finale. And that would have a more beautiful story but alas you can't fight chemistry.

That’s a fact man. I just don’t get the infatuation for Pacey and Joey. Like I said they had good moments. But if you really pay attention it was kind of toxic a lot of times. Dawson, for me was the character that really grew up and changed. It’s like the writers didn’t understand their own story arch for these characters. Everything that should have happened was right there in front of them, all the way up to the finale. And they dropped the ball. Dawson’s arch alone was fantastic because from who he was in season one to season six. He was the one who truly grew up. He was the heart of the show. It was Dawson’s Creek, not Paceys Pond, Not Joeys Lake. And Yes Andie! Pacey was definitely at his best with her.

I think since season 2 Joey realized Dawson wasn't the right one for her, which is why she was no longer with and was able to fall completely in love with Pacey. But Dawson remained her safe place, a teenage dream that never came to fruition. Therefore, whenever she was not well or felt lost or when he came to her, she gave in to the closeness. But she has known for a long time they were not meant to each other. So yeah, part of her regretted the next day while the part of her that refuses to grow up and give up on Dawson just kept going with the flow until Dawson's revelation stopped her from continuing the denial.

Joey was definitely indecisive and selfish one too many times. Honestly stopped liking her character after season 3. I completely agree! I think that Dawson and Jen had so much more chemistry than Dawson and Joey. And everyone seems to just skip over all of the great moments he and Jen had over the course of the show. Like the time they went swimming naked in 2x09, or the time in 4x23 when they were talking outside of Dawson’s house before he went off to college or the time Jen gave him sex advice in 3x03. Jen and Dawson were the most unproblematic couple on this show next to Andie and Pacey. If Joey hadn’t had feelings for Dawson and Dawson knew how to treat women they never would’ve broken up in S1 and would’ve dated all through high school
