Season 5 is a very interesting season for Dawson. Dropping out of studies, his father's death, his feelings of guilt, his therapy with the bereavement specialist, his temporary rejection of Joey, his loving relationship with Jen, his responsibilities to his mother and little sister , then his new life in Grams' attic, his restored confidence in his passion for cinema ... Seasons 4 and 5 are really very rich for this character.

Oh ya Dawson character for his age experienced a lot in a short matter of time plus his dad dying maybe that had something to do with it being home would most likely be thinking about his dad you know it can be a sad and good memory at the same time.

I never expected Mitch to be killed off, and right after repairing his relationship with Dawson. However, it makes sense that the actor wanted to leave if he felt that more emphasis was placed on the teens than on the parents.
@destinychild46592 жыл бұрын
I doubt that. Actor wanted to be on a show that wasn't just about teens, but also told adults stories. I don't think it was his choice.

It was actually about this pay. He left because they didn't want to offer more money, and the way the writers just killed him off asap was wild!
@stevemyopinion4238 ай бұрын
no he did not want to be on the show since they give no stories for him so he ask for a lot of money just to be killed off
@Bull19086 ай бұрын
He wanted to leave cause with the teens becoming college students, he knew his character was going to be scaled back and more of a background character. Look at few storylines the mom got after he died and Dawson moved away.

This episode made me sad and upset at the same time! Sad for obvious reasons cuz of his Dad who was a genuine guy. But also upset cuz Joey was trying to make his Dad’s death about herself. At the end she complained to her roommate that Dawson wanted nothing to do with her. Umm hello he just lost his Dad, and wanted some space to process all this and didn’t need you constantly breathing down his neck.

This was a heartbreaking episode to watch, at the same time the one episode where you COULDN'T criticize Dawson for being selfish or annoying and all that other stupid crap. When you lose a parent, it hurts and he was clearly hurting here.

I think Dawson needed to be single a while well grieving but I also think that they missed a chance to really focus maybe on Dawson and Pacey going back to being close friends and like brothers and they could have probably focused on that for a bit now that neither where with Joey. In a lot if ways season 5 was more focused on friendships already anyway.

I would rationalize the same way Dawson did about the events that led to his father's accident. The audience knows it's not true but he doesn't. It sucks to think in such pragmatic way but I do that to not lose my mind. It's awful because when you do want to lose your mind, you can't.

4:01 - i call BS on that - who tells their grocery clerk their kid has a "romantic streak a mile long" ?? that was the hilarious part about Dawson's creek, no matter what's going on, like here with Mitch's death, they'll find some awkward way of making about the romance.

@@clauderain312 idk, maybe........the show always random one off characters who were seemingly life long buddies or confidants who we see once, long enough to rattle off some contrived story or analogy about love/fate and how it applies to joey, dawson, and pacey........and then we never see those characters again : )
