In the old days, it was only the jar for jam/honey/mustard had the small notch for a spoon. The sugar pot does not have the notch, simply because you do not want a wet spoon to be put into a sugar bowl/pot.

Excellent point! I only mention it however, as it is quite common anymore to see notches in lids for sugar bowls. Just Google image search for sugar bowls and about 25% will show notches. I think it is just like words change their meaning sometimes through common use and acceptance... so has the notched sugar lid. ;)

I would like to know what do you after, you just let it dry or what it takes to be finished.

Right, Angel- when the lid and pot are done, I place the lid ON the pot- then I allow to dry slowly. Drying and firing a lid while ON is really helpful to make sure the lid will still fit after glaze firing. Sometimes, a pot or lid may warp, but keeping them together, really helps. (I am making a video on how to glaze a lidded pot, I'll have that up in a few weeks!) :-) When bone dry, then I fire, glaze, and refire. I have some videos on how I glaze if you want to check them out! :-) Karan

Love your videos! Great explanations and tips. But can you please ask the person whom always needs to cut a piece of wood while you make a video to hold off for a few minutes... A little respect for the potter please!!

Haaahaaahaaa!!! That's the noise of my potter's wheel would you believe! The motor is SO loud! Most of my videos I try to mute it, but it takes so much time! I am wanting to get a new wheel soon- so hopefully that won't be an issue!!!
