It really isn't though. You guys simply need to stop making it your personality and suddenly everything gets easier... Humans get attached to all sorts of unnecessary crap and hair is one of them. I went to the salon once after years of severe depression and obviously looked like a crap on top of my head. They desperately wanted to safe it, while I was sitting there confused why they would make it so much harder for themselves. Told them several times to simply shave it off and let it grow back again, because that's what hair does. It just grows back... I, as the client, had to convince them to finally shave the shit off.

Had a stylist who was egg headed. He used to have a fro but he ended up bald from genetics and aging. He was so sweet to the tender-headed clients and played with our hair while layering it. He always talked about “the good ole days” when he saw me as I have curly hair like he did. It was really nice to be his client but I always came home with a fro. Lol Hope he’s doing alright!

While I am really not the person to be speaking on this (a white Latina with fine wavy hair), watching this series and speaking to my black coworkers over the years about the racism they face in the workplace, I’ve observed many times how traumatic hair can be for black women in America. Black women have amazingly unique and beautifully diverse hair and it’s disgusting that we still live in a society that tells black women their hair is not enough naturally and needs to be styled to be “professional” or appealing. This girl is so beautiful whether she styles her natural hair or chooses to wear wigs and she deserves to feel beautiful both ways ❤

This actually breaks my heart. I love my long hair. You can see the emotion in her face when he took her ponytail off. I get that everyone has struggles with something but it just seems so hard for black women to have long, healthy hair. Not impossible but hard.
