Evidently what you spend must not reflect how good a product is now days. After years of frustration with my Esab plasma cutter, I decided to try one of the cheapest brands out there just to see if it may work for me. I was royally surprised!! Hope this helps you decide to give one a try too! Thanks -DEXTER

My Bestarc is 5 years old, it was the '3rd' generation. Works like a horse. These are absolutely FANTASTIC Plasma Cutters for the price! Undoubtedly, many people just don't put faith in 'inexpensive' products but MINE has done literally everything - and more for cutting and like you said, I didn't have to spend more than $500.00. Tools and technology are coming down and this is why I KEEP BUYING because I can now! LOL.

New subscriber here....WOW!! That little thing seems like a beast!!... I have a cut50 that is still running great after 4 years...I am going to upgrade it to non contact when I get a chance.I have an older flux core from Harbor freight that I upgraded with a full wave bridge rectifier, some large capacitors , a fan with a shroud and a better ground clamp...Now it can hold its own against Eastwood and others that we compared it to..I know I should make a video. I am starting a build on a 1928 Morgan/MG special when it gets warmer here in Pa...Thank you for sharing such an awesome video!!..-John

Just so you know, the resolidified metal on the back is called Dross. Slag is what you remove from stick welds and flux core welds. If you watch the sparks, and they continue blowing downward, you can speed up. If they start to change direction, slow down. Going too slow can cause more dross. And lastly, I think air pressure is more important than most people think. I always run it a bit higher than the instructions say. Cleaner cuts. Experiment a bit, find the balance between amps and air pressure. 👍

I am using a Bestarc Gen 10. To get the most out of them, a 20A circuit is the minimum, a 40A or more circuit is better. Like all Plasma cutters, the inrush surge current is the limitation. It can cause problems when running on gen sets as well unless the gen set is a decent size and well regulated, with emphasis on the regulation. Poor regulation leads to a weird feedback loop. Ditch the wire stand-off and buy one of those 2-leg ones, also buying a cheap drag torch for working templates is a good idea, comes in handy when gouging as well, (cutting out welds). Personal opinion on the Bestarc? Bloody fantastic!

i always get slag with my older gen Best Arc , but I have heard others say turn up the air higher to blow it off the cut, and you will get less. It's no just more amps to get rid of it, it's a balance between Amps and Air. I bought it for the same reason, for a home shop a $300 plasma cutter is about as big a purchase as I could justify, and totally worth it for the results i get.

It used to be duty cycle, access to consumables and customer service were why you would want name brand over the cheaper stuff. I think these smaller brands know this because they have improved a lot these last few years.

I bought a no name PC years ago when they became sub $500. It's worked fine. Just wished it had pilot arc. Crazy how low the price of entry to metal fabrication has become for the DIYer. Except for CNC cutters.

I did a review of this machine last year but never uploaded it. Probably should. A couple of tips; not using an air dryer is a bad idea. Moisture in the air hits the flash point instantaneously when it goes through the arc in the plasma stream. This instantaneous flash creates a steam explosion. You can't hear or see it, but it eats the consumables away very quickly. Any compressed air has a lot more moisture in it than the ambient air does. Tip number two; the problems you've been having with the Esab sound like bad consumables. Do you ever change them? There are four replaceable parts in the torch that wear out and HAVE to be replaced in order to maintain cut quality. The good news is the Bestarc uses very cheap consumables that are easy to get in large quantities. They are good little machines. I had to get rid of mine because I couldn't think of a way to make it work with my CnC plasma table. I ended up with the much more expensive Primeweld. I should do a video on it.

Man that things looks great the only thing im wondering about is what the duty cycle is ? Probably be good for 1/8 steel without it over heating doing a small project id guess. Might have to get one

We have a Thermal arc at work and if I don't use an air dryer the tips will last about 10 minutes. After we got a cheap air dyer the type that use what looks like a roll of toilet paper, they last much longer but the parts are still stupid expensive.

Great now any thief with an electric generator & one of them torches in the trunk to cut pad locks/passage ways through metal buildings/door locks like butter. 😢 Some KZbinrs garage was recently robbed of F1 parts & they had something similar to that torch on on the surveillance footage to cut through the guys gates/building.

I just laugh at people who think a used first or second gen tundra is a great truck because of their resale value, and then they pop a ball joint and cause a car accident, then spend a fortune to fix it, and then spend a fortune constantly replacing ball joints keep it on the road, and an engine and transmission all before 200k.

Newsflash! I'm probably a lot older than you and I have had a lot of vehicles which I have put a lot of miles on. I have had more than one of each brand and I can tell you all of them have had problems. A used vehicle can be a peach or a lemon depending on how well it was driven and maintained.

@@MrSuperchargeronI have worked on thousands of Toyota trucks, they are by far the worst and it's not even close. Once I refused to work on any 1996+ up Toyota truck, I couldn't find any consistent business. There isn't any other truck that's ever been made that's prone to popping ball joints and causing car accidents. Now if you take any IFS truck lift it 7" and put 40" tires on it, then all of them can and will pop a ball joint. Only Toyota trucks pop ball joints stock.

@@MrSuperchargeronany mechanic that defends or recommends Toyota trucks only does it for the consistent repairs and failures, and that is criminal.

@@SierraDaylightMy '99 Tacoma is at 410,000 miles on the original power train (just a clutch replacement) and has never had a balljoint failure. Replace them with OEM at 100,000 miles and they're fine.

It's funny the only time I ever see high mileage Toyotas is in the KZbin comment section. I've never seen one over 200k on the original engine or transmission.
