hey little tip that none knows if you hold right click with throwing knifes mid clime you can throw them after or cancel the clime and do the same there will not have a animation but if you let go of your left click it will throw them still sh dont tell anyone :)

As a Top 1000 Light main, throwing knives are the highest skill ceiling on light imo and this allows them to clutch a 1v3 where it would be impossible on any other weapon

@ I think that throwing knives allow for a unique play style against the rest of light weapons. The amount of burst damage allows you to repeatedly “poke “the enemies, which covers your main weakness being your low health.

The rest of lights arsenal is focused on high rpm low ttk weapons for the most part with some mentions of high damage low rpm weps like the shotguns and bow. The bow could be great for peek shotting but it’s too slow and the shotguns are honestly kind of terrible. The double barrel just has terrible damage and the other has a middle point of all other shotguns but doesn’t go anywhere good with it. As such all the usual peek shot options are terrible. Knives on the other hand fire both fast enough and with high enough damage that you can effectively peek shot enemies at short to medium ranges which gives it a niche other light weapons just don’t have.

I've been saying this and people thought I was just noob stomping. The dps is crazy on throwing knives if you hit the shots/chunk heads. It's just harder to aim w/ and the range leaves most far engagements pointless. But if you take time to learn the projectile speed + crosshair tracking it's very rewarding. Any necessary 1v2s at medium range have a new definition

i have been using heavy sledge this season allot while it does somewhat struggle against model if you cant get a 1v1 it is an amzing counter to defib as a defibed medium can be treated like a light and be swong then quick mele even if they are being healed and a defibed heavy can be downswong. allong with winch being able to manipulate cashouts so that you can have them in more advantagus areas, weather that be pulling it out into the open so its harder to steal or indoors to make your solo potental better. allong with this it allows you to cancel teh adcatages of mines and other things for last minute steals and is a verry usefull steal counter. i have found good sucksess with it. ( currently at high plat 38k peaked at 42k playing with ruby ( 41k currently ) friends of mine. the main thing to learn if that 2 swings and a quick mele allow you to kill a medium and if you include the down swing charge time is a faster ttk breack point allong with this if your playing witha model medium this leaves them 1 shot ) i dont think sledge is really meta per say but underated abosteley.

I was a throwing knives main last season, but stopped using it this season. I'm more pike now. But throwing knives can still be a problem in good hands even with the nerfs and rebuffs of other weapons. That neongutz guy alternates between throwing knives and sh1900 but he is a grappling hook specialist.

I think its important not to overthink the DPS especially when tangling with a heavy. There is a psychological component, when a heavy gets a right click from the knives he will react in 1 of 2 ways. He will instinctively pull out an rpg and kill himself and possibly you (nobody told him about the rpg nerf). The other and far more popular move is to hit the Q button and start charging around aimlessly trying to one shot the light. Keep your distance and dance around him with left clicks. They get realllly nervy when their hp takes a hit. As a light, your hp bar is flying around like a tachometer, we used to it.

actually they are more op now than they were when low elos considered them op, the faster left clip actually was only good in low elo, the holding on right click means overall faster ttks as u can time things more consistently, these are still bad in high elo though but i think they have potential if mastered, maybe just for ranked and not real pro scene but who knows

How does being able to hold the right click necessarily increase the TTK? Similar to dagger mains, TK mains had the timing down such that holding the right click is more of a QOL change. Let’s look at the changes. 2.10.0: decreased animation delay, increased primary attack damage, increased initial projectile speed. 2.10.4: fixed an animation cancel exploit that allowed them to be fired at a much faster rate than intended. - People learned how good they were and started stomping lobbies. casuals complained - 3.1.0: reverted damage buff. 3.10.0 decreased firerate. Season 4. you can hold the secondary attack. They were better before, if you were skilled enough to consistently time the alt.

So, a light has 150hp. You really can't give a light any weapon and call it broken unless its like a one shot kill. Knives one hit headshot a light i think. Thats it. From a lights perspective, throwing knives are one of the only weapons that makes light effective at all. Meanwhile, medium has the model, pike, ak, defibs, heal, 250hp, jump pad....I could go on. By the way, I don't know how long you've been gaming, but you'll be hard pressed to find a game that hits balance adjustments every 4-7 days. They just stopped doing that because people were complaining about excessive nerfing.
