Hi, This video was extremely helpful to me. It enhanced my ability to throw a pitcher with an awareness of moving the clay and lenghtening the height at a pace which is faster than I had been using. I was able to get a much better piece. Many thanks Meg

Dan, thank you for sharing so much of your work. I'm especially a fan as I am also a fan of colored slips while on the wheel, and see the identical process in attaching handles to my work. Seems I never feel like I'll have time later, so mine go on when the pot is too wet, and the handle too limp, and yet we pull it off. I dig seeing this in this video! Thanks again.

Bravo! A huge pot in under 10 minutes I wouldnt even have that much clay centered by then. I liked how you did your handle, I was taught to let is get leather hard in the curved shape but applying it when you did made it look easier.

You inspire me into not giving up when I can't master the wheel! Keep up your amazing work! It's amazing! :)

I'd kill to have your talent. You make this look easy!

If you can centre it then that's the hardest part to master as a beginner. If you're pot is collapsing then you might be trying to make it too thin. Don't try big pots to start off with,just try small simple ones to start with to get some confidence and once you get the hang of it go a bit bigger. Don't get disheartened,It's not something you can learn overnight,so really it's just practice and eventually you WILL master it. Cheers,Dan.

Great way to pull a handle, I have never thought of using a table to hold the handle while I pulled it. Much easier I think. Perhaps tonight I will give it a go.

OMG the water! So much water!! I- I can't get away with using soooo much water- I mean it'll just collapse on me after three seconds!

I have several questions about your style. One--what type and generally how much do you throw at once? Two-- how do you get the batt to stick to the wheel with out the pins? Three-- do you trim the bottom of your pots or just undercut and fire? Four-- how do you get the clay so soft before you work on it? Five-- How often and how much time do you generally give to a single project? Thank you so much for your time and for making the videos. I watch them to try and get better in my ceramics.3rd yr

Thank you! Wonderful vessel. One wish.............I would love to see the tools you use as you move thru the process. You are using them at 6 o'clock and the viewer is at 12:00 o'clock. You handle the tools so quickly and efficiently, Thanks again for sharing. I particularly needed to see the application of your handle and found that very helpful. Diane

I love your work and I think that every piece you do is pheonomanal (sp?)... Do you have any tips for beginners?? I can get it centered, but when I try to open and raise the walls it falls off center and collapses... Thanks, Nick

Beautiful work and technique. How wet is your clay?. I am having a constant problem with clay consistency: either too hard or too soft. How do you determine this?

Like father, like son! I asked Dan's dad the same thing a while back! When the handle and jug have the same moisture, apparently scoring not critical! I'm scared to try it. Have never lost a handle. :-)

@MegaAnnoyingMouse I know, maybe he's impatient and he uses so much water to thin out the rim faster so he can collar it.
@eeveegirl13347 жыл бұрын
emlmm88 Dan using a lot of water means he likes working with wet hands and clay. It all depends on the potter if they like working wet or dry.
