Really enjoying your video of the AZ trail. Most people start from the south and go north, but I love it that you started from the north and going south because seen the trail and the views from that direction or just stunning. Thank you for posting this.🎉

That aspen grove near the end of the video is stunning. I live in Colorado and thru hiked the CT in 2016. Retired in May and although I’d love to do the CT again, for some reason started obsessing over the AZT this week. This video is making a strong case for on Oct SB hike. Thanks for the info and inspiration.

@@davegleason8007 thanks for the comment Dave! I thru hiked the CT in 2022 and gotta say, that may be the prettiest trail I’ve hiked so far. That being said, my favorite trail will always be the AZT, and I definitely recommend thru or section hiking it one day!

Nice hike. Love the video. I always start laughing when an AZT through hiker gets to the Grand Canyon, looks at the miles, and declares its going to be a couple of easy days! 🤣 Congratulations on surviving the SK climb! 👏

Oh, hey! Take a mayonnaise packet and squirt it into a tuna packet. Good idea, I will probably do that on my next outing. Great video! Unbelievably gorgeous scenery. I've never hiked in the West.

If you’re able to get all the condiment packets, adding mayo, mustard, relish, and hot sauce is my favorite way to do it. Especially with tortillas

What hoodie is that blue one with the mesh/holes in the hood? Looks good for warmer weather.
@habibihikes
@habibihikes 2 жыл бұрын
That is a Kuhl Sun Hoodie I got a year ago but I think they re-designed it and sell it as the AirKuhl Hoody. Thinner than the REI brand so definitely preferable for warmer weather. There’s no drawcord on the hood but it’s tight enough not to blow off in the wind 👍🏼

@habibihikes
@habibihikes 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I haven’t hiked the AZT in May yet but two sections come to mind as must do’s for me. Obviously the Grand Canyon is highly recommended so Grand Canyon village to Orderville trailhead (nobo miles 691- 763) would be doable in 7 days and you get to experience the Grand Canyon and Kaibab NF. Vail to Oracle (nobo miles 117-208) is in the desert/southern section but crosses into two sky island pine forests. Beautiful desert and mountain views in the Coronado NF and Saguaro NP. I also steward part of that section. Have fun!

10/1/21! In my opinion, it’s a perfect start date for a sobo hike. Can’t beat 100+ miles of aspens changing colors to start the hike.

What are the pros and cons of SOBO
@habibihikes
@habibihikes 2 жыл бұрын
Pros: fall foliage and also you are generally less likely to encounter snow (although I hit snow in Flagstaff) Cons: less water than Nobo spring season and much fewer wildflowers than in spring. Water availability makes nobo spring the more popular choose but sobo in the fall is totally doable!

@@apocalypsemule5773 not a bad start date! Just keep in mind that the campground/general store at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon close 10/15 each year. If you can start a little earlier that might be less of a hassle. I think you can still hike into the park but the permit office may be closed.
