I'll mention another cool thing about this wheel and that's the stitching. You see how Thrustmaster doesn't have the yellow stitching at the side spokes on the wheel where we grip, which makes it super comfortable racing without gloves because the stitching isn't blistering your fingers.

I love Thrustmaster stuff. This looks nice! I'm considering an intermediate upgrade before going direct drive, to a T300RS. This wheel would be great to use later with that wheel base and the T818 later on. Mike, what are your thoughts on the T300RS as an "upgrade" from the TMX Pro? God bless and race on 🏁

Love my t300rs gt.. But seems like their direct drive is a bit behind the competition. If your really into racing suggest just going dd one time because you would want more than what the t300rs can deliver.

Great review and great product, I feel like this fills a previous gap in TM's ecosystem, having a round wheel with that diameter is fantastic. One question, did you test this with a belt-driven wheelbase as well? I'm curious to hear how the force feedback translates on a bigger wheel from a T300 for example.

Hey Mike, great review! I had noticed in another of your videos that you were using the P310 rim on what appeared to be this hub, is that correct? I have both Sparco TM wheels and use them on the R383 hub, and was hoping to be able to swap them both onto this Evo hub as well, just wanted to see what your experience was with that.

@@Watevaman yeah, that’s exactly right. I swapped the stock wheel for the Sparco, and it’s become one of my favourite wheels. They were compatible without issue.

Hi Mike, did you check to see if your other sparco wheel fits? I bought the TS-PC Racer Ferrari 488 Challenge Edition a few years back and have now upgraded to the T818 and converted the 488 edition wheel with the QR addon. I was wondering if the bolt pattern spacing is the same for the upcoming wheels. So I could use the button box part from my 488 edition wheel and just put the new ones on it? Thanks

Looks like a nice product. I personally still think thrustmaster should focus on trying to bring a cheaper Direct drive option to the market but they probably know what they are doing marketing-wise.

Agreed. If there was a 5 or 6Nm version of the t818, it would rock. There are some good supporting accessories offered by TM, but they’re likely held back by the high point of entry for their wheelbases

Do they? People are not flocking to the overpriced t818 and cheaply made wheels are not going to attract buyers. Given the new Cammus DD, I think thrustmaster has lost the plot now that true competitors are at this price point.

It's a nice looking wheel with some sweet features, maybe i'm being picky but numbers on the buttons and even the odd labeling kind of off putting but not seeing it infront of me or using it is hard to say whether it be a big issue have to wait and see what others say or maybe they change it but yeah i'm going to keep a eye on it thx for tthe great VOD.

I wonder if this is the ecosystem that will include the new F1 wheel? Been interested in getting one of their f1 wheels but reading about how the T818 performs, I've decided to not get the expensive F1 wheel ferrari offers since people said it's generally better to sell your TM gear and just go with one of the million other companies making great DDs. Kinda has changed my whole approach to upgrading my rig. We'll see, if this ecosystem is more expensive than the open wheeler wheel then I guess I'll still just grab that and save up for a monza DD or something. Actually, watching this video, you said you how much you like the T818. Could you consider doing an updated review/ So many people have said it's not worth it or "bad" because if wheel adapters or some such stuff. I was looking into buying it but everyone has said "just sell your TM stuff and get Monza or Sim magic" so I'd (personally) love a review. Thanks!

This is the wheel I've been waiting for. I already own the 28cm leather rim and the Sparco 33cm rim and they are fine. But after buying the 488 GT3 wheel I was wishing they would bring out a round wheel with those magnetic paddles. And there it is! So tempted to put in a preorder...must....resist..gear...lust

You can add magnets to the older micro switch wheels. The Sparco 33cm is much better quality than this. The SF1000 wheel is still the better wheel for everything.

Seems they are really improving their wheels. I have the 488 Challenge and while I love it, the buttons are a bit plasticy and the thumbsticks are a pain to use, especially when using them blindly while being in VR. The 488 GT3 gives better ffb on the T818 because the quickrelease adapter isn't needed anymore so I expect the same from this one. Now I only need to explain my wife why I really need to buy a 7th wheel.

I really wish thrustmaster would change there style. I just don't think it keeps up anymore. Wheelbase is nice with the led but idk.

A modern wheel needs rotary thumb wheels. Those buttons are too closely clustered and the new QR system flexes too much. That pleather will not last long.

@@truantray yeah idk what some are thinking by giving this wheel a thumbs up cool you can hold it and go ok it feels ok that is not the standard we are at for wheel rims. It should be way more to it then that now because we have to many options everywhere else for a wheel like this to be ok now. Standards should be going higher not still being judged on 10 year old thrustmaster stuff being compared to it.

I just saw that one and commented there. I have zero flex with the GT3 and SF1000, only a slight flex with the 488 Challenge, mostly because that one has a much wider diameter. I was pretty shocked to see how much flex he had with the same wheels. It seems more like a fault with his T818, that amount of flex is definately not normal.

@@MrEDET I watched that review as well and was looking for Mike to mention flex but it seems OC had a defective QR since that was an inordinate amount of flex for a brand new wheel. Nice wheel this. Can't wait to see their F1/GT wheel swap

@@Darren_Martin OC was using a betaversion of the quickrelease adapter which TM sent him to do an early review. But I do get the feeling that some T818's have a production issue with the quickrelease since I saw a couple of people complaining about flex.

@@Darren_Martin OC was using a betaversion of the quickrelease adapter which did have flex. That is not the adapter being sold once tm started selling the T818. So that was most likely the cause he had the flex. I posted a comment under overtake's video, his T818 just seems broken. Not his quickrelease adapter but the entrance part in the T818 itself. The T818 should not have any flex, even while pushing the wheel hard and in ovetakes video the amount of flex he has is just crazy. I really think there's a batch of faulty T818's on the market since more people complained about having flex :-/

Sorry, but if this cheaply finished, yet expensive wheel is the future of thrustmaster, Im getting out of that ecosystem for direct drive. There are far better options. Synthetic leather = cheap plastic. Pass.
