For me the trick was to do the button combination like you did and then close out the firmware utility and reopen it and then the firmware updated.

I am updated, to 6.01 and I also have the new Beta Panel for settings, which is nice and much more modern much like Moza. However, I still can't get the PRM/Flag options to work. Is there something I need to have checked in iRacing?

You Need to Press the 2 button before powering it off and hold them until you power it again on

Had the same issue, what he doesn't mention is, when you hold the 2 arrow buttons, then hold the power button, release the power button but still hold the arrow keys until it appears in the menu as boot.
