If you’re a powerboater & petrolhead, you’ll enjoy this video. We put a microphone on Thunder Child II to record her exhaust noise during a drone video we made of her, she sure sounds mighty. Beautiful high speed in waves Ariel footage too.

Heck, just like the others, I thought, heck, even a customer of Frank‘s here, wow! But anyways, I‘d not think a split second if I were rich. I‘d most likely throw my carbon footprint principles right over its board right along with placing an order I fear.

I can't get over how the stern stays deep in the water at speed. The angle at the stern changes so minimally even when the boat hits swells at high speed. From mid-vessel to the stern, it doesn't spank the water when it travels in big seas. You tend to focus on how the bow cuts through walls of water, but the stern riding so low keeps your fillings from coming loose. The position is affected because the boat doesn't "ride up" waves due to the design and the bow minimizes impact, but the stern design starting mid-vessel makes me just stare at the videos in amazement. If powered well, hitting swells gives the sensation of being stuck in mud at best. Only the steepest swells affect the boat angle substantially.

Great power vessel looks good horrible design tho you know they're sitting on vertical hydraulic compression seats but plowing horizontal hull is designed to slice through the swells but yet it's out the water 80% of the time the stern is constantly pivoting on an incline thrust with the bow out of the swells.good looking vessel though thanks for taking the time to make the video

I don’t know shinola about how to design boats, but seems to me the bow is too thin, and, the balance of weight to too far aft. But then, seeing it cut INTO a side swell, banked, and just slice right through it, I thought. Well, if that’s the trade off. What a choice... Or, they could just be trying to hammer the thing. Which clearly seemed the case.
@huebdoo
@huebdoo 4 жыл бұрын
it looks like the first 1/3 of the bow is an extension ontop of a Deep V hull, it looks like the first 1/3 of the Hull takes a great deal of stress, wouldn't want to be bashing that again and again in big swells ... not to mention the beam seems really narrow, you take a wave broadside you are going to be in trouble .... sweet if you can keep it straight

I think there is too much volume about 2/3 way back from now to screen - (as a length-location guide - say forward middle third) The sudden volume and waterline beam increase at this point is pitching the bow upward suddenly - if you streamlined that section transitioning to full waterline beam more gradually it would operate considerably better - at present, it is not as superior to a conventional hull as it’s intended hull design should demonstrate!! Cheers, Michael AU 🇦🇺

@MrSunrise- 4 жыл бұрын
Have you looked at the other videos showing the underside? The forward section of the hull pinches and rises dramatically at the 1/3 point as the overall hull form transitions to a catamaran for the aft of the boat. They also have a hydrofoil in the tunnel. I do think Marc's question is legitimate - I've study enough hull design to know that I'm just some fella up in the bleachers, but that's why I did the digging required to understand the shape - did you?

@MrSunrise-
@MrSunrise- 4 жыл бұрын
@jack tarr Planing hulls tend to have the weight to the rear because that's where the hydrodynamic lift is. You are quite right, in a following sea without power they would take green water over the stern, but that's not unique to this boat.
