Hello from Australia John Woodall here. I keep Running out of Superlatives to say about not just the Pilot's but Ground Crews as well, I have Written about the Blue Angels of the U.S.Navy and How Much Pride you should Feel for them. The U.S.Air.Force Thunderbirds Team needs that same Admiration that I gave to the Blue Angels but I also at that time mentioned the Thunderbirds. As I said when writing of the Blue Angels this Takes Nothing Away From The Awesome Boys and Girls of our Military. These People Have Lived The Dream and Have Earned that which is in the Military World, I speak of the Very Best of the Very Best. Pilots and Ground Crews, To the Pilots what else can you say Superlatives wise, I day that their Abilities, Their Split Second Timing is that which leaves us Gasping. To The Mighty Ground Crews, One Word (Excellent), Your work keeps the Boy's and Girl's Pilot's of the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels, You have Reached the Pinnacle, Enjoy The Adulation, You Deserve It. Regards John Woodall Australia

As a retired RAF aircraft technician it was my privilege to work with some of the finest pilots and other aircrew in the world (not just RAF) and respected every single one of them for their skills and professionalism, but the display team crews are by necessity the best of the best, and even the groundcrew have to be on top of their trade and perhaps above average in experience and knowledge, but the one thing I do abhor is the prima-Donna airs and graces that most of them take on, maybe they are “the best of the best” but when push comes to shove we were and are all on the same team, and it sure as hell wasn’t a display team. I worked on virtually every type of aircraft configuration the RAF had (fixed and rotary wing plus transports) and the worst crews that I ever encountered, air and ground were the fixed wing guys, the fighter jocks, or as I prefer to call them “plank trash”, but within those crews were they real wankers of aviation, the holier than thou brigade, air and ground, and they could never understand why a) they were hated and b) why they were hated, perhaps it’s different in other countries but in mine and 99.9% of those I worked with we couldn’t understand why they went from really great guys and gals to total anal retentive morons. But, you have to respect their abilities, not necessarily the person in the fancy uniform. P.S, I am so glad I never took up the opportunity to be a Red Arrows team member, I was happy just being on the sharp end.

@K Well you do know there's 500 other jobs in the Air Force. I wonder if you even have a H.S. degree...
@erichhartmann15 жыл бұрын
@K Oh my, your comments do not even make sense. Let me guess, BA? BEng was years ago for me. Did I say anywhere you don't need a degree? Did I say anywhere you we're wrong about officers needing a degree? Guess what, I am an officer! Maybe I know what I'm talking about? Maybe not? The whole reason I replied what I did is as, clearly, you're the one with poor reading comprehension skills when you replied to the kid that he's not flying without a Bachelor's degree when he nowhere even stated he wanted to become a pilot. On top of all that, this video is on the ground show where all of the main subjects of this video are enlisted. Why would he say he wants to be a pilot on a video about the ground personnel for the team? That is why I replied. Nothing to do with me denying you need a degree you loony.

@K Regarding this third comment of yours, there's the confirmation. BA it is with your picky English.

@Admiral_John5 жыл бұрын
Fun fact, the "5" on the pilot's flight suit is also upside down.
@alexferriolo79455 жыл бұрын
Actually that is not the reason why. I was wondering the same thing so I asked a Thunderbird airmen at the museum I went to at Nellis Air Force Base, home of the Thunderbirds. She said its because the number was painted on the aircraft upside down on accident and it was too late to fix it. She said it was the pilots best show so they kept it on there for good luck. I hope you check out this comment.

Well, unfortunately, it isn't as easy as starting a car is. Systems in the aircraft need to be in place, navigation (INS) needs to be aligned. As well as flight control tests and to troubleshoot issues before they happen. This is a multi-million dollar jet with extremely advanced avionics, hydraulics, and systems that MUST be tested.
@mikehiggins4614 жыл бұрын
@@paulmiller2860 ok so how to quick reaction aircraft get airborne so quick? They prep the aircraft so it's a case of jumping in starting and go. I just feel that part of the show is wasted. No other teams do that and take that long.

I've always been more impressed with the Blue Angels since they don't use G-suits.
@feversol8 жыл бұрын
Rob Billeaud but, the. Blue Angels choose to not wear the G-suits because their forearm rests on their leg. And the air bladder would put unintended movement into their attempt to control. This is why their control stick is also tensioned to 17 pounds. These pilots don't contact their leg. I'm a Navy guy, but it seems smart to wear all the protection that's reasonable. This doesn't answer why the Blues don't wear the oxygen mask, however.
@johnmooney97427 жыл бұрын
Rob Billeaud The tension on the stick is 35 lbs. The T-Birds can wear g suits because the control stick for the F16 is on the side of the cockpit. The Blues don't need to wear masks because of the altitude of the shows.
@wilsonandlucy7 жыл бұрын
I don't think the Blues need oxygen......they're pretty much bad ass.
@siouxperb55706 жыл бұрын
I realize the comment is a year old, but the reason for no oxygen mask is that all maneuvers are conducted under 10,000 feet. The better question is, why do the Thunderbirds use O2? Probably just as a standardized demonstration of mandatory equipment in the normal F-16 flight envelope.
