Gambit's only beating Lugia in an endgame thanks to Supreme Overlord, and even then it has to deal with the mindgames of Lugia either attacking into it with something like Earth Power or clicking Recover, so there's a high likelihood of Gambit still taking damage in that scenario. A non-endgame Gambit isn't beating Lugia without setting up Swords Dances and Lugia can potentially Whirlwind it out.

You guys forgot to consider Ape stallish-balance as an archetype Alo passing wishes wasn't a thing back then. You can just run some AV 4 Atks joint with CC Ice Punch Rage Fist and one last move of choice. Imagine just running it as a bulky figher and you already are very strong with Adamant max Attack and bulkier with AV and you get even stronger on getting hit you. It solves all of it's issue that mentioned, being bad into Gliscor, bad into HO, bad into mons that don't it etc. Ape is just fundamentally broken. It's stats are way too good that it can always adapt. Consider that it's already a decent mon with it's stats and typing which are extremely good. If it optimizes it's Rage Fist, it would always got on the path of being broken.

I don't think Ape is fundamentally broken...but it's fundamentally broken in gen 9 specifically. Without the ability to change its type, it will always have weaknesses that can be exploited, but defensive tera on Ape is what really pushes it over the edge and allows it to actually adapt to just about anything. Come gen 10, if it returns, I think it'll probably be balanced due to the lack of tera.

I think it's interesting with a lot of these mons that they might palatable stand alone but some factors push them over the edge. Annilape is alright on it's own but would be broken paired with Alo. Arch is ok on it's own, is broken on Rain. Bax is ok on it's own, is broken on Snow+Veil. Volc, Espathra, Regieleki, Terapagos ok on their own broken with Tera. Sneasler might even be average on it's own, is broken with Dire Claw. A lot of situationally broken mons this gen.

You are really sleeping on Solgaleo, bros. That man has higher raw bulk than NDM, one of the top defensive guys in Ubers. You take less from non-Super Effective moves than NDM. Also he is faster which does matter. You are also looking at him as a pure offensive mon. Look at him as a defensive guy with cracked ass stats. 137 base attack is strong as balls too. No investment Knock, Sunsteel, EQ, Morning Sun will still put on extremely pressure when you can't even pressuring it back much with immense bulk. Not saying he is better than NDM but keep in mind he is literally NDM lite and that is still beyond broken for OU.

What you guys describe as "4MSS", I see a mon whose any one set can beat like 60-70% of the meta at least, and with extremely high variance. Only the defensive pivot set seems "least egregious", but otherwise: - there's physical holepuncher Solg which blasts literally anything not named Alomomola while having a higher Speed tier than Kyurem _on top_ of resisting SR - *AGILITY* Solgaleo (which Blunder somehow missed as a speed-boosting option when it's literally the first move in the builder) that can either be physical or _special_ Power Herb Meteor Beam + Flamethrower or whatever the fuk you feel like - mixed Solgaleo might not even be bad cos 113 SpA Thunder is plenty for chunking Alomo/Corviknight/Dondozo - Weakness Policy + Agility might also be something to consider since Solgaleo with ~120 HP investment is pretty much OHKOed by nothing so it may not even be a safe play just to try and chip it. While defensive Solgaleo can definitely yield benefits to the meta, I don't think it's worth the cost of dancing around its multitude of dangerous offensive sets. Honestly I think Giratina-A might be a "safer" bet to test than Solg, even if less beneficial.

This was the one thing in the video I felt was really egregious, feels like they didn't look at Solgaleo meaningfully. It's good as shit and the CM sets last longer than Iron Crown cuz you have recovery and more bulk. Knock/Sunsteel/EQ/Morning Sun like you said does feel like it puts on a lot of pressure by virtue of knock or just straight up hitting things hard. I don't think Morning Sun was even really acknowledged at all, neither was Agility like the guy above said. Meteor Beam could do a lot of shit, it can punch holes in the opposing team for sure and I don't think it should suffer much from Rampardos syndrome since it's bulkier than they gave credit for. Even if it wasn't broken I'm pretty convinced this isn't nearly as underwhelming as they make it out to be. Of course though, I could be wrong like always since actual results can easily be a lot more effective than simple theorymonning, and I have no problem with it being tested, but it does feel like this video looked at Solgaleo in a vacuum and without proper depth.

Lugia not revieving knock off while everyone and their moms seems to have it. It is the main factor as to why i feel lugia would be balence in OU. If it could say run a set like knock off bolt/beam plus recover it wouls make for a really good fat mon that could beeat the common knock absorbers. Without a free click move like knock off or toxic that it cause use to force some amount of progress against most teams. Lugia users will often find that once their opponent figures out even a little information about your set then your cooked. Coming off of offensive stats like that, once your opponent knows what coverage you have and lack, lugia affectiveness greatly diminishes. The worse thing you can be in moden pokemon is a fat pokemon that doesnt do much to set your tram up for victory

Here's all of my unbans and the reasons why: Zacian-N - If we can handle Zamazenta why not this? Besides Skarmory and even Muk can wall this dog. Remember we are talking about the normal form not the crowned form. Giratina-A - It's offenses are not as bad as Origin, but it's defenses are a problem. If Zacian is legal it can take care of this issue. Ninetales-A can also be a convenient check with Snow Blizzard. Deoxys-N - It's pretty frail and it's just a worse Deoxys-A. It can even be two KOED by 40 base power priority moves, PRORITY MOVES! If Palafin is legal it can one shot this fodder with Jet Punch.

I'd keep Zacian-C and Volc banned, just because they're better versions of Pokémon that are already dominant in OU. Volc is a better Moltres, and Zama-C is of course a better Zama-H. I don't like the idea of unbanning Pokémon that would directly powercreep current OU Pokémon and force them into UUBL. Solgaleo, on the other hand, I could actually see being tested in OU. Despite being the same type as Iron Crown, it doesn't directly replace Crown since it fulfils a different role. Crown is Special, while Solg is Physical.

I know it's a different tier, but Ubers UU is a good reference for how broken a mon is. There I've had success with Ape due to how broken Rage fist is, but Arch on the other hand doesn't exist. Granted that there are no good rain setters there
