Mumm-Ra's introduction is truly haunting. How the announcer says "..They form an unholy alliance with the ageless devil priest of first earth..MUMM-RA." **silence** That bass part of the score, Earl Hammond's laugh (my God, that laugh!), the way he comes at the camera mouth opened & all...str8 BEAST! If I had seen this when I was 5 or 6--not knowing anything about the show--I honestly would've been a little spooked.

Don't know if this is a lost intro or a promo. But I do know that a great deal of the Thunder Cats' PURE AWESOMENESS is in the official opening. Still, thanks for the video.

Same here man. No other cartoon could touch it growing up. This was the original intro they played when it 1st came out and after the series was approved they gave it the "traditional" intro. I still cant believe cartoon network had the nerve to edit the 1st episode "exodus" I remember from watching it back in the day where they edited it. You can even if you didnt see it back in the 80's tell because there are noticable jumps in the background music.

It is the intro to the first episodes. It wasn't lost... it was just impractical to have it every single episode. Kids aren't stupid. They'll learn who everyone is. :P

i think we give little credit to what kids judge as good vs bad, or what they deem as entertainment only. as a child, i watched this show every afternoon, along w/ duck tales. just b/c kids are exposed to certain things doesn't mean they'll take them literally.

This looks more like a pitch reel. Something the studio did early on to convince relevant of people (broadcasters, financial supporters) to get the show on the air. Like the Batman: TAS video

I think it would be safer to monitor what your kids learn from what they see. There's no way to monitor everything they see around so it's better to be sure that what they got to see is understood and they realise what part is good for them and what part is not.

because most of the 80's cartoons were probably undr the Rankin&Bass corp. and that company had ties with a animation company in japan called "Pacific Animation Corporation" which animated all the shows the company produced, look up Pacific animation Corp. on wikipedia it should give a better discribtion
